Guest guest
>Yes, I suspected I should also drink water, since it a tea, but then >drinking vinegar like drink. > >-Audrey The body must have plain water for proper hydration. Anything else you drink, fruit juice, sodas, tea, coffee, whatever, in order for the body to get at the water portion, the body has to do work to separate it. That work requires energy, and that energy creates heat in the body, requiring cooling. So, drinks that are not pure water do not replace water in the body and may actually take water from the body to be metabolized, just as food does. So drinking lots of plain water is a necessity for good health. Something I learned here that has helped a lot is to put a pinch of whole salt in your water-- makes it taste good and helps retain the water. But it must be WHOLE salt. Whole salt is not stripped of its trace minerals and will be pink or grey in color-- Redmond Real Salt, Celtic sea salt, Himalayan sea salt, etc. What is commonly called sea salt has been bleached and stripped and is NOT whole, and definitely the stuff in the boxes at the supermarket is not whole salt. Stripped salt can cause mineral imbalances because it only has sodium instead of the range of minerals the body needs, which is why people have to watch their salt intake and why it causes problems. Whole salt's mineral profile matches our blood's mineral profile, so it can be ingested without imbalancing our minerals. Minerals are more important to health than vitamins are. Without minerals, vitamins can't be utilized by the body. --V ~~~ There is no way to peace; peace is the way ~~~~ --A.J. Muste

Guest guest
There are some types. The most popular is Celtic Sea Salt. It is a light gray salt and it is moist as it is harvested out of the sea. There is also Himalayan Salt which is harvested from the Himalayan Mountains. There is also a salt from Hawaii call Alaea Sea Salt and has some of clay from the surrounding mountains in it. The most widely used is Celtic Sea Salt. I use both Celtic and Himalayan and I have just ordered some Alaea salt. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Yes. In the U.S., the Redmond Real Salt is probably the least expensive. I actually called the company, and they test their mines very carefully for radiation, and there is none. The way you know it is whole is one, it is usually grey or pink, not white, although I have seen some that is close to white. But the main thing is, it will be sold as whole salt, because it is more expensive so the fact that it is whole salt is its selling point. Do not buy it unless you know it is whole salt. " Sea salt " is a phrase that does NOT translate to " whole " . Lima salt is another type of whole salt (not Lima Peru, but Lima in Europe), but has become rare. I feel that whole salt is a good investment because one doesn't use huge amounts of it, yet the effects on the body are tremendous! --V >And there is Real Salt from the ancient sea beds in Utah. >maria. > >On Mon, 10 Apr 2006 16:36:00 -0400 " ALLYN FERRIS " > writes: >There are some types. Guest guest
Funny you should mention them. I am an affiliate for them, link on my site and all that. They also sell the salt but I had never thought of using it as salt but more as a bath salt type of thing, but yes, there is no reason not to. I'm going to go to my own site and get some!! I also have two of the lamps that I've recently ordered, this is not my first, I love them! I'm getting a matched pair to go on either side of the fireplace. Can't wait till they get here!! (If anyone is interested in the lamps or the salt or the other products, email me privately and I'll send you the link ok? akiba@...) Guest guest
Why would you not just buy an Ion generator since it does the same thing, but in more useful quantities? Of course not the one sold at Sharper Image, but a real working one. You can get good ones on Ebay for half the price, and ones that emulate thunderstorm ion activity. Nothing against sharper image, the air doesn't actually circulate through it, it has a positive grid below the negative grid on top. Stuff NEAR the ion device sticks to the positive grid and gives the appearance of circulating air, but nothing actually circulates. Stuff FAR from the ion device fall to the ground just like any other ion generator does (or thunderstorm). >Care to elaborate on what a salt lamp does for you? - It releases negative Ions [negative in this sense means good for you]. rusty -- mjkern2000@... Of course not the one sold at Sharper Image, but a real working one. - Yes, the point of the 'lamp' is twofold. The heat releases the ions and the convection of the air rising from the lamp helps circulate it. But I agree a Techno generator can deliver more. My experience with the ionizers [wipe down type but not the sharper image] is that the " dust " that is to be 'wiped off easily' is a sticky gluey film and requires more than a dusting to clean. And the lamp is a lot more aesthetic than a steel phallic symbol. rusty Re: OT water drinking / whole salt Why would you not just buy an Ion generator since it does the same thing, but in more useful quantities? Guest guest
As I hoped, I did receive my two salt lamps yesterday. I placed them on either side of my fireplace. On the floor directly above, is our bedroom. So as a result my head is right above the lamps. I slept like a baby!!! Of late every night I awake with what I call the " megrimms " , just basic worries about life, family, money, you know the deal...not last night, I didn't wake till morning and actually awoke refreshed!! Highly unusual, can't wait to see what tonight brings (after LOST, of course!) And the lamps, besides giving a beautiful, warm glow, make an awesome night-light!
