I have a five year old with Autism and it is said that he is on the mild side

however, he has a lot of behavior. Screaming, pulling on his face etc.

Anyone have any solutions for a screaming child. The screaming doesn't always

have a trigger and I am at a loss as to how and stop this. Anyone have any

thing that worked.

Thanks,

Have you tried ignoring it? He may be tryng to get attention and thereofre

attention is reinforcing the behavior.

Hi La Toya,

Does your child have a OT therapist. It sounds like he is overstimulating. Have

you tried brushing with him yet. If not you might want to get a OT Therapist and

see what works for him.

I hope that helps

I guess my first question is to ask what dietary/medical interventions are

you currently using with your child? Is he a patient of Dr G's?

When my son used to do this we taught him to sound like an Indian, and he loved

the vibration on his hand. As he was screaming, we would put our hand over his

mouth and quickly take it off over and over so it would make an Ah- Ah, Ah, Ah

noise. He learned to vary the sound of his voice for more deeper or higher Ah's.

It became a game.

Re: any solutions for screaming child

Ignoring the screaming has not work in fact it does the reverse and the

screaming increases.

Playing the " Indian " worked a while back for us too.

I had forgotten about that little tactic! It might be

a little useful for us again too. :)
