Guest guest
Hello! We started Olivia on 20 mg of gingko yesterday. We noticed that she was much more alert - excitable, in fact! Her big sister is her helper at ballet class. She told us to make sure Olivia gets her gingko every Wednesday because she did a GREAT job of dancing last night! :-) We did have a hard time getting her to go to sleep last night though. We gave her dose to her at noon yesterday. Today we gave it to her at 7:30 am - hoping she'll sleep better tonight! :-) She is 4 years old and weighs 38 lbs. Do you think we should slowly work our way up to giving her the whole 60 mg capsule? Thanks! Guest guest
This scares me to even try Ginko with Nate. He is already alert and attentive and curious enough, that I cannot imagine him to be even more so. I also need him to sleep from 7:15 till 5:00am in the morning. Question does it take the stubborness away? Sherry Mom to Evan(8), Olivia(7), and (4)* " Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new. Guest guest
Gingko has never affected Danny’s sleep….he still sleeps for 10-11 hrs a night. And, sorry…nope..the stubborn gene is still fully functional. Guest guest
The stubborness gene.... the kids are all so different. Mine is a class clown and likes " boy talk " and says inappropriate things at times. Computer programs? you know when they go " boink " for the wrong answer? He likes the " boink " ! Stubbornness can just be a trait that manifests itself because the child/person has unmet needs/lack of reasoning. It also can just indicate that the peron hasn't matured. It took me 1/2 hour to get my son out of his brother's friend's home. My son weights over 100 lbs. - so I couldn't just pick him up and go. I had to resort to a water squirt gun - he hates that. Was he being stubborn? Yes, but more than that I think that his behavior indicated an unmet need. He is 11 and needs to have his own friends and places to go - something that we need to work on. Guest guest
Freddie has been on Ginkgo for about a year now - aybe more. I would have to look at my notes? He weighs 77 pounds and is 4 feet tall. He is 7yrs. He gets 60 mg a day. We didn't really see complete changes for a good six weeks however when we took him off this past month, we saw a quick decline in attention span and some return of stim behavior. He's on some heavy narcotics right now so behavior isn't even an issue now. nnaMommy to Freddie 7yrsFull Inclusion 1st Grade"We can change the world one classroom at a time" - Gail on From: Sherry <nathansmomsherry@ yahoo.com>Subject: [DownSyndromeInfoExc hange] Re:Gingko ReportTo: DownSyndromeInfoExc hange@yahoogroup s.comDate: Friday, February 6, 2009, 5:37 AM This scares me to even try Ginko with Nate. Guest guest
Hi Rhonda! We have been back and forth between the hospital and home. Wound care issues. Did you know they don't stitch on the outside any more. They use dissolving tape? It looks like that packaging tape with string in it. It's driving Freddie insane! He has itched the top of the wound to the point that it is bleeding. We had to go in (2X) and get it cleaned and redressed. We finally figured out that if we put a huge bandage over the whole back, rather than one just over the wound, he can't scratch the actual wound. No shirt around the house either as that keeps it from rubbing. Freddie is going to try to go back to school this Monday. Only on a half day schedule. I will pick him up when I get off work at 11:30 (I work at his school). His wheel chair came today. It's the cutest little thing! He got right into it and wheeled around the house. He can walk around the classroom, he just can't move quickly or carefully enough through the halls of school. His balance is still a little off. He will have to be pushed because it will put too much of a strain on his back muscles to push himself. I talked to school`today. They are going to have the para at school early all week. Unfortunately last night Freddie decided to jump on the couch and while in our queen size bed too. On a good note, his gross motor has already improved just by the release of the cord. The bad part, he was in so much pain by the time he went to bed. I want to wean him off the Oxycodone this weekend. We are going to take him to a basketball court Sunday to try to figure out how to maneuver the chair. He just did a jump up in the air with his legs and arms stretched out. It's going to be another night of pain. Clearly his gross motor skills are going to soar from here! Thanks for thinking about Freddie!nnaMommy to Freddie 7yrsFull Inclusion 1st Grade"We can change the world one classroom at a time" - Gail on From: Sherry <nathansmomsherry@ yahoo.com>Subject: [DownSyndromeInfoExc hange] Re:Gingko ReportTo: DownSyndromeInfoExc hange@yahoogroup s.comDate: Friday, February 6, 2009, 5:37 AM This scares me to even try Ginko with Nate.
