Guest guest
Hi guys. Okay so I'm trying to drop off at least 20 of the 50 pounds I've gained in thelast year, i figured I'd start off with about half of what i want to lose. I'm tall and dont look heavy, but the scales dont lie. First, those who have been successful that have acm and/or EDS what type of diet did you use, and what type of exercise were you able to do, currently a walk a couple times a week if i get home before daylight. I'm having wrist surgery next week so I'd like to start while I'm off work for 2-3 weeks, it takes 23 days to develop a good habit so i figured I'll be less tempted to skip a day when I'm not working, as far as exercise goes. My problem is i cant do anything hard on the joints. I've considered water aerobics and stuff, but I rarely swim due to the fact my BP always bottoms out when i get out of the pool and i end up passing out, even with my bp meds. So i guess my question is what type of exercise is best for someone who cant put too much stress on the joints and have ACM issues with a craniocervical fusion. Should i just start walking more or is there something else inexpensive i could do. I cant afford going to a gym and I dont drive so that makes it hard. Also what type of diet works best I'm lookingat just counting calories and not going over the recommended ammount. I have issues with the low and no carb diets. I have a few cardiovascular issues, sick sinus syndrome, a pacemaker, an elongated heart, and mild increased pulmonary pressures. So I dont want to stick to a high grease diet that the low carb diets entail, I've always had the opinion that the 5 food groups are best, or is it 4? LOL Also i have a strong suspicion that i have pituitary problems, just with the fact that my cycles are out of whack (they were better this last time, only 6 wks apart instead of 2 months), I seem to switch moods quite often, and i cry about everything here lately, i go through stages of emotionalness and then go back to nothing upsetting me. I've thought i had pituitary problems for along time, ever since charnel initially pointed it out. Dr. McDonnell at the EDS study asked me if i thought that could be it when i told her I " ve eaten healthier and exercised more in this last year then i have in the last 3 years and I've gained 50 pounds, with very little med changes. The only med change has been a beta blocker added and that was like 2 weeks ago. I was glad she suggested, we're waiting for the rest of my bloodwork to get back and then I'll pursue it further. Anyways I appreciate any suggestions.
