Guest guest
Yes, Pia it is a REALLY lovely place to live and there is a significant surcharge for the view I might ad! I am originally from Texas and moved here 11 years ago. I grew up in Houston and lived in Austin going to university and working for many years. I really miss Austin, not Houston so much. Texas takes a pretty bad rap especially on the two coasts. I will say Austin is really a very cool town. I may move back there if I don't win the lottery out here! I believe you mentioned you live in New York City which is also one of my very favorite cities. When I don't travel out of the country I go there a lot for work and play. Though I have 4S pretty bad I love restaurants and the din of a crazy packed house. There are none better than New York and yes, sorry to say, even better than San Francisco - though we're not too far behind. Too much ahi tuna tartare and friggin' short ribs on the menus here! My favorite restaurant, there are a few, but the one I don't miss when I go to New York is Blue Ribbon on Sullivan in Manhattan. I go there really late at night (1am-ish) and hang with all of the miscreant off-duty chefs. Couple of martinis and the raw bar cannot be beat! Except for the people watching of course. I digress from the 4S but I think you'll understand. -russPia Levensteins wrote: That is a nice place to live!! Good ages!! There is hope!! Guest guest
I got so carried away I forgot to mention that my fiance knows I am on this Yahoo Group but has not read the posts. I am not hiding anything from her and while she is understanding I don't think she fully understands and I fear some of the posts might freak her out a little bit. I may have her sign on. She is very smart and thoughtful and may have something to add that I don't know about. I am thinking about it as I write so.. yes I think I may have her log-on and check it out. We have pretty good communication skills with each other so I could 'splain what's happenin' if she has any questions. -r.diddy Balch wrote: Yes, Pia it is a REALLY lovely place to live and there is a significant surcharge for the view I might ad! Guest guest
I think that is a great idea. Then, at some later date, our poor significant others can start a group about what it is like to live with 4S sufferers!!!! It will help a lot for her to realize what is going on. Just like the first time I found out I was not alone with this thing!!! Amazing!! pia > >Reply-To: Soundsensitivity >To: Soundsensitivity >Subject: Re: Russ >Date: Thu, 18 Jan 2007 14:02:52 -0800 (PST) > >I got so carried away I forgot to mention that my fiance knows I am on this >Yahoo Group but has not read the posts. Guest guest
Yes, Blue Ribbon (the Brasserie) is 97 Sullivan, I believe in SOHO or close by - definitely go there! Yes indeed, having lived in the center of the bread I find the crust to be the tastiest part. I work for a wine & spirits importer here in N. Cal. I manage the wine side with some very good Champagnes and Italian stuff. I will tell you that after the holiday rush I apparently have some free time to sit in my office and goof-off on-line!Pia Levensteins wrote: Blue Ribbon, I will look that up for sure!! Guest guest
Wow, that is quite ironic as I depend on Wine Spectator to give my wines favorable reviews. And we get very good reviews, in the 90's usually for the Champagnes, Piper Heidsieck and Heidsieck.Pia Levensteins wrote: RUSS, I work at Wine Spectator, Cigar Aficianado magazine.I have gone tandem skydiving!!>From: "Pia Levensteins" >Reply-To: Soundsensitivity >To: Soundsensitivity >Subject: Re: Russ>Date: Thu, 18 Jan 2007 17:12:38 -0500>>Blue Ribbon, I will look that up for sure!! Guest guest
Russ, I was looking into learning to fly also but $$$$$$ never got around to it, yet!! The tandem jump I did was the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will surely do it again this spring!! They took a video of me jumping and set it to Aerosmith's LIVING ON THE EDGE! Very cool.... I bet your fiance will be astounded to find out how " real " 4S is just like we were!! Good good luck with that. You seem like a great guy and if you love her she must be great as well and everything will be fine. I get the guilts after saying things or I just give my husband " the look " because he comes in the room eating and talking and then he gets the " look " and smiles and backs out!! Sounds insane but after 16 years together the boundaries have been set. To tell you the truth I feel very lucky to have someone who can put up with me!! It took some time though because I only found the website less than a year ago and until then I thought I really hate people and being around them. It affected my taking classes and my job and everything!! Once I found out it is a real syndrome of some kind then I found more people who were like me and things started getting better. When I would BANG BANG BANG on the wall to quiet my neighbors, my husband would really freak out on me and get mad. BUT not anymore!! It really is a weird thing but here we are and I guess the bottom line is this: IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT FOR EATING AND BREATHING BUT IT IS WE WHO HAVE THE PROBLEM AND ASK OTHERS FOR THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF OUR REACTIONS TO THESE SOUNDS/NOISES!! Something like that!! Feel like I made a friend in you!! Thanks, Russ Pia > >Reply-To: Soundsensitivity >To: Soundsensitivity >Subject: Re: Russ >Date: Thu, 18 Jan 2007 14:54:35 -0800 (PST) > >Pia, > > You have a pretty good gig as well getting to taste all of the wines >that come into WS which I know must be quite a bit. Guest guest
Thanks, Pia I am glad we have are friends too! By the way flying is extraordinarily expensive and sooooo worth every penny - to me. I love the skills required and learning something complex. Plus it's the Bay Area - beautiful!! Sky-diving takes real intestinal fortitude, however. Believe it or not I am afraid of heights! I forwarded the sight to my mate and I think she is going to join soon. She is a very self expressed person who is a total angel for putting up with me and all of my idiosyncrasies!! Sounds like you have a sweetheart of a guy too. Though we suffer a certain wiring problem that makes us recoil in horror at certain noises I feel humans do need camaraderie and contact with others. Enjoy your Bose headphones and have a great day! RussPia Levensteins wrote: Russ, I was looking into learning to fly also but $$$$$$ never got around to it, yet!! The tandem jump I did was the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will surely do it again this spring!! They took a video of me jumping and set it to Aerosmith's LIVING ON THE EDGE! Very cool....I bet your fiance will be astounded to find out how "real" 4S is just like we were!! Good good luck with that. You seem like a great guy and if you love her she must be great as well and everything will be fine. I get the guilts after saying things or I just give my husband "the look" because he comes in the room eating and talking and then he gets the "look" and smiles and backs out!!Sounds insane but after 16 years together the boundaries have been set. To tell you the truth I feel very lucky to have someone who can put up with me!!It took some time though because I only found the website less than a year ago and until then I thought I really hate people and being around them. It really is a weird thing but here we are and I guess the bottom line is this: IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT FOR EATING AND BREATHING BUT IT IS WE WHO HAVE THE PROBLEM AND ASK OTHERS FOR THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF OUR REACTIONS TO THESE SOUNDS/NOISES!!Something like that!!Feel like I made a friend in you!!Thanks, RussPia>From: Balch >Reply-To: Soundsensitivity >To: Soundsensitivity >Subject: Re: Russ>Date: Thu, 18 Jan 2007 14:54:35 -0800 (PST)>>Pia,>> You have a pretty good gig as well getting to taste all of the wines >that come into WS which I know must be quite a bit.
