Hi, I'm not sure if this is relevant to this forum, but I wanted to let anyone

who has a spec. needs child riding a bus operated by Dallas County Schools what

happened to us.

My 3 y/o daughter rides from her school to daycare on the bus. I was informed by

the asst director if the daycare that the bus driver and monitor left her

outside of the daycare with " a parent " . So I called Transportation and advised a

supervisor of the situation. I was told that " it would never happen again " .

Unfortunately, this was the SECOND time I had been told this, which I said to

her. I was then told that it was " not the monitor's responsibility " to walk my

daughter inside the daycare.

I have contacted the school principal and the parent who very kindly escorted my

daughter into daycare is writing a statement for me. As it stands right now I

don't know just how far up I plan on taking this. What I really want is the

driver and monitor's jobs. What kind of decent human being thinks that what they

did is okay? I wouldn't trust either one of them with a rusty nickel at this

point.

I just wanted to put it out there that for some of the drivers, it's okay to

leave a defenseless child, a baby, with an unauthorized person, in direct

violation of just about every policy they have, because " it isn't their

responsibility " . Unfortunately it appears that it's a mentality that is shared

by more than just the driver.

I am so angry at these people but more than that I am angry at myself for not

being more aggressive about the first incident. What if my little girl didn't

get a second chance?

Please, please make suprise visits when you can, observe what these people are

doing. I can't imagine what it would take for these people to realize that yes,

it IS their responsibility. Does a child have to get injured, raped, kidnapped,

killed before they see that they can't just kick a child off the bus and drive

off?

As it is I'm absolutely torn as to what I can do now. Neither her or her dad can

leave work every day just to take her to daycare. But, something's got to

give...

Please understand that I don'twant to give out too many other details about what

happened. The last thing I want is for my girl to be retaliated against because

I shared the truth about DCS's monumental screwup. But like I said, parents need

to know who their kids are with, when they are not around.
