Guest guest
My understanding is that Medicare will cover donor " evaluation " .... but not treatment. The donor should be responsible (or the donor's insurance) for treatment of fibroid. kidney donor Fibroid tumor found in a donor during workup. She has been referred to a gyncologist for evaluation. Guest guest
Dr. Wiesner just called me with some info..he indicated that last November UNOS passed a regulation allowing any kidney donor who later needs a kidney transplant to get the highest priority on the kidney cadaveric waiting list and should not have to wait long. He knows of no " funding " or programs set up to help such individuals, but indicates there are meetings soon to be conducted in Palm Springs, Fl addressing some of these issues. He also suggested that if the donor goes back to the facility where the donation took place, that facility may or may not grant some special financial consideration. I'm sure this issue could come up for facilities that also do living liver and living lung transplants. Interesting! ...fran Fran E. Guest guest
HI, I am curious, what type of " financial " consideration does the individual want. As you know, if the individual is Medicare Entitled, then they would have no costs associated with evaluation and only have " normal " deductibles and coinsurance for the transplant. I am just curious. Thanks, Bill At 04:14 PM 2/12/2004, you wrote: >Dr. Wiesner just called me with some info..he indicated that last November >UNOS passed a regulation allowing any kidney donor who later needs a >kidney transplant to get the highest priority on the kidney cadaveric >waiting list and should not have to wait long.
