Guest guest
No. I am a former diag/LSSP now in private practice. There is no reason or case law that says they have to do that. You age out at 22 not 12.Sent via BlackBerry by AT&TFrom: "" Date: Wed, 07 Jan 2009 17:53:01 -0000To: <Texas-Autism-Advocacy >Subject: Re: Has anyone ever had a school outright refuse retention? Well, apparently children are no longer retained at all??? I've spoken to the diag at our elementary school. She said that because his age is 12, chronologically he must be in 6th grade. So, I have to enroll him in the middle school and they will provide programming for him. I can request the elementary school staff at the meeting so they can give input on his IEP in 6th grade, but that's it. This doesn't make sense to me.... The only thing I seem to have going for me is that the case manager at the middle school is new. I'm thinking we may finally have to break down and bring an advocate after we see how this will all come together.
