Guest guest
You need to see about an advocate or see if there is a sliding scale attorney. You may even see if an attorney will consult with you. You can bet the school district will outmanuver you if you are not prepared. An attorney or advocate would probably be cheaper than court/damages.Sent via BlackBerry by AT&TFrom: "holli_gregory" Date: Wed, 07 Jan 2009 23:00:52 -0000To: <Texas-Autism-Advocacy >Subject: Court Appearance Does anyone have experience defending their asd child in court? We received a summons to appear next month because my son hit and pushed an aide. I haven't seen the paperwork from the school yet, but I am going to request a copy tomorrow of the incident that was wrote up. I do know that this occurred when the school was not following his BIP or IEP's. I also know during this incident at the school, they were screaming at my son because I was on the phone with him at the time, and they pulled the phone out of the wall. I guess I need all the advice I can get prior to the court date as I cannot afford an attorney to represent him. I am very close to pulling my son out of this school here, as they are not interested at all in what our kids need. I have had 3 ards in 3 months and my son has probably only attended 2 months of school in the past 4 months.

Guest guest
I will recommend you talk to this excellent lawyer and ask her for advice, lot's of lawyers work with you in this situations, and make the district pay for legal fees. Also start requesting for transcripts of ARD'S, notes and maybe some complaint papers from the school, they may tell tell you that you need to pay " but NO you are not supose to " gather all the things together and see exactly what is going on. In your place I will demand monitor school sessions, so as go to school and show , even bring a camera, or the time being while you call the lawyer, you call an advocate to help, I will not go to that court meeting without help. You and your son have rights! jacqueline > > Subject: Court Appearance > To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy > Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 5:00 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Does anyone have experience defending their > asd child in court? Guest guest
by the way usually aides are not even certified to deal with children with autism or other disabilities, so you may want o ask if the aid does have a certification or some kind of training. > > Subject: Re: Court Appearance > To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy > Date: Thursday, January 8, 2009, 10:14 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Can you send that email again, some of the > letters didn't come out > > right. > > Thanks so much. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Subject: [Texas-Autism- Advocacy] Court > Appearance > > > > To: Texas-Autism- > Advocacy@ yahoogroups. com > > > > Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 5:00 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Does anyone have experience defending > their > > > > asd child in court?
