Wow Kathy,

This is the same article I ran across a couple of weeks ago when I was seeking support for my point of view. I wonder if Corby also has this sort of problem or just recognizes how rude gum chewing is. Maybe we should all write to Corby to point out yet another reason people should not chew gum!

Thanks,

Sonya

I read an article on the Internet. It's very interesting. This Corby O'Connor is a business etiquette expert. It's about gum chewing, etc., in the business place.

You know, that makes a lot of sense. Makes me glad I literally have not had gum in years.

Oh good article... thanks for sharing that! You all would die, I mean

literally die, if you had to work with my boss. He's a gum chewer and

I mean he's like a chain smoker only it's with gum. I swear he goes

through a pack a day. Luckily I don't work in the office and I rarely

encounter him. The only time I hear him is when someone has a radio

and is paged by him and I can hear the chomping in the background.

With him, I really think it's a nervous habit. This guy is so hyper

like he's on speed or something and if he didn't chew gum he'd probably

explode! LOL.

Gum chewing isn't a major trigger for me unless it's really disgusting, and I think it's completely normal to be put off and offended by noisy open-mouthed gum chewers. I have 4s-like reactions sometimes, mostly to gum poppers. What the heck is that all about? Why would anyone do that? I chew gum occasionally, but I keep my mouth closed like any normal civilized person (a dying breed, I guess).

Some noise annoyance is totally normal. I try to remember that if I'm bothered by a noise, the chances are good that other people are too, even if they don't have 4s. Exceptions being the little noises that only I seem to hear, of course.

Web sites to teach you how to pop your gum? ok that's pathetic! Don't

people have better things to do in life. Think of all the things they

could be learning that would actually benefit humanity instead of drive

everyone insane! LOL.

to pop/crack your gum.  I can't believe anyone would want to offer or

receive that information!  We are living in very interesting times.

That's a fantastic article, I emailed it to everyone I know and then

emailed Corby to say thanks for writing it. She's a lovely woman she

got back to me straight away saying " I was in an elevator today for

what seemed like an eternity because there was a woman standing behind

me chewing like a cow. Made me nauseous. " So it sounds like maybe she

does have 4S...

Maybe someone should email her to tell her about the condition and the

group :)
