Guest guest
With Steve in Plainfield, IN 2 days ago; he was about 730 miles from NYC. So if he is keeping his 14 to 15 miles per day ... by the end of today ... he will be w/in 700 miles of NYC. Or ... about 50 days away at 14 mpd (miles per day). Go Steve! Keep it rolling to NYC! The end isn't quite in sight ... but it's coming fast! I remember thinking I did something significant riding my bike across Iowa. That was nothing! Walking across the US? Starting at 400+ lbs. Whoa! On Ragbrai (bike ride across Iowa), the tradition is to dip the back wheel in the Missouri (Iowa-Nebraska border), and the front tire in the Mississipi (Iowa-Illinois border). Are you touching the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans? That would be a pretty cool way to start and end the whole thing. Just a thought. YOu would probably have to walk across Brooklyn to get to the Atlantic. Isn't Coney Island by the Atlantic? I think so ... if you watched the end of " The Warriors " ; the end up by the ocean I think.
Guest guest
I just looked at Steve's site and here's what he wrote for the very first day he started walking: 3/26 - 1 mile - almost killed me. The back and leg pain was unbelievable. Wouldn't it be cool if he finished up on 3/26/06? One year? Barb
