Guest guest
Hi, I was wondering about Uti's. Ut's are a common occurrence with tethered cord. But if a person is on a schedule, keeping up with cleanliness and making sure that there is no residual left why do Uti's still occur. It can be a sign of retethering but why and what does cause the uti's. Since I had surgery in Aug.2000 I have had 5 uti's and now 2 in the last 4 weeks. My pain levels in my left leg and foot have increased as well. I suspect that I have retethered but I'm curious as to why I'm getting uti's. Guest guest
Hey Cheri, Good luck with your daughter and the changes coming up. Makes me glad my children are long grown and gone. I did discover that once they moved away and settled in, we had a better relationship. The group from Pennsylvania is down here for the week. About your UTI question, usually caused by the three things you mentioned...cathing can lead to more UTIs. I know that in our nursing home, anyone with an indwelling catheter gets lots of infections. I describe it to families as a highway for bacteria to march into bladders on. Other reasons - not drinking enough fluids, PH of the urine (drink that cranberry juice), and then some people are just prone to infections. That probably doesn't help much, does it? -- Life shrinks or expands In proportion to one’s courage. Anais Nin
