Hello,

We will be moving to Highland Village in the middle of May. I wanted to

know from parents in the ville ISD how hard it is to get a 1:1 aid

for their ASD child? My daughter was in a typical pre-school this year

at 5 yr. old due to the public school here in Wichita, KS wanting to

put her in a community setting (aka daycare). She did okay

academically, but you could tell she was definitely behind the other

kids who were younger and she had no aid. There was only 1 teacher with

1 helper in the class with about 17 kids. They were not trained in any

ABA or anything as ABA is non existent in Wichita. It was just a small

church school. She has always had private OT and private speech which

was the best here, but definitely not at the level she needed. I am

trying to get her setup to start therapy at the Brent Woodall Foundation

and just sent in the requested paperwork.

I am very excited for her to start Kindergarten, but also scared to

death. She will definitely need an aid to be able to keep her focused

and give her added direction to understand the tasks. She is on the

GF/CF diet and rotation of food allergies and I have no clue how that is

going to work at lunch time. I'm wondering if I will be allowed to

attend lunch with her as there really is nothing I can send her that

doesn't have to be fixed or heated.

I have done my research and heard that ville ISD is great, but I

would love some reassurance from parents that have been there or are

there.

Do they offer speech and OT services at the schools?

Any recommendations of other therapy locations that are spoken highly

of?

Thanks so much and please feel free to give me any additional

information that I have not touched on. I will take all the advice I

can get!

Suzee~
