My husband asked me what's the actual difference between an Igenex Western Blot test and the Quest or Labcorp version. Can someone clarify?

Thanks,

I am no expert, but these are the things that I have seen reported. Igenex is more sensitive in that it's more likely to pick up the antibody and also that Igenex tests for several strains, whereas most other tests do not. And there are several different strains of lyme. Plus, I have seen on the forums that many say that they prefer the Igenex test due to it being more likely to find their antibody to test positive. But, don't forget that many may not test positive unless they have been treating the lyme for a while to build up the immune system to produce antibodies. There are antigen tests that claim to not rely on this, but this is not what I have seen people report. They also seem to not test positive on those unless their immune system is built up via treating for lyme for a while first. There is controversy about lyme and testing and such, but the bottom line is that most people are improving upon treating for lyme, so I choose to believe the theory that it is an epidemic and difficult to test positive for. There are efforts in place right now to change the lyme guidelines taught to mainstream medical, so hopefully as time goes by, things will improve.

Love and prayers,

IgeneX tests for more of the antibodies that are specific for lyme disease. It's a much better test.
