Guest guest
GAPS helped me to understand this issue. Gut and Psychology Syndrome. Heal the gut, and you heal the brain. The brain is a living organ that can heal and grow new pathways. Our kids have gut damage and aren't getting nutrients to the brain including myelin needed for electrical conductivity (omega 3s). Children with Starving Brains McCandless may help explain the complex issue as well. Heavy metals such as mercury can sequester in the brain and cause cell death. Many studies confirming this. Guest guest
This makes a lot of sense because you can heal the brain, but if the gut is leaky it can re-injure the brain. Many therapies like Neurofeedback, chelation, HBOT and even MB-12 require healing the gut so the therapy will work better. Guest guest
I agree. I try to encourage parents that there is much work to do in the kitchen before going after other interventions. Take away what harms and give what heals. The digestive system covers the surface area of a tennis court. Imagine if this surface area is allowing foods to pass through and full of pathogens. Now imagine that surface area healed and full of gut flora. The implications for brain health are HUGE. The immune sytem controls the gut, so diet all around is key and foundational. I used to picture my son's sick gut and this was enough for me to not give in with gfcf nuggets or brownies that are easy to purchase adn desirable. I only wanted nutrient dense and digestable foods passing through. Fermented foods loaded with good bacteria etc..... I think you are right on Nagla. This is why I'm still very careful with my son's diet. Every once in a while I pull him for 4 days and do a semi fast of mostly broths, fats, some protein to heal the gut and give a break. > > > > > > > > > > I watched the second video and for the first time in a long > > time, > > > I > > > > am very excited about this therapy. Guest guest
I agree to a certain extent and for many kids it is the case. However, since we have done all what you have mentioned and a little more and have not seen the results we want, I suspect there is still more. My son' latest tests shows that he no longer needs chelation, yet, he is still non-verbal and no where near recovered. Stem cell therapy? >> >> > >> >> > >> >> > I was speaking with a mother who is about to go to Costa Rica >> > to >> >> get stem cell therapy for her severely autistic son...has anyone >> >> heard of this? Guest guest
Due to the widespread damage across the body and brain, I have wondered if our kids can even produce viable, healthy stem cells of their own, even after intervention. > > That's interesting that even with stem cells, chances are better > after doing certain biomedical interventions. Guest guest
For what it is worth, stem cell therapy for Autism has been conducted in China (and Germany too, I think) for at least 20 years. There is a huge difference between repair cell therapy and embryonic cell therapy. For those of you who are interested in researching this further, the safest place to get authoritative info is on PubMed. We have only just started looking into this so I am by no means an authority. If you find anything that is really helpful, please post a link here! Thanks and best wishes, Rianne
Guest guest
I did a blog about this back in October 2007 (don't know if it is the same family on YouTube), and you can read the story at: http://tinyurl.com/db2sek Hilda I watched the second video and for the first time in a long time, I am very excited about this therapy. I don't know about Costa Rica, but wish our own Texas Children will look into this. I plan to find out. Stem cell therapy? I was speaking with a mother who is about to go to Costa Rica to get stem cell therapy for her severely autistic son...has anyone heard of this? I found this on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0ZanIBoGHU & feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlSaXCzLW6w & feature=related Any thoughts on this? Guest guest
many of our kids won't be able to do this, but many with hard work will. Leonard says step by step with improved health (long process) the body can get this ability back which would further enhance this treatment. I think some people would have to continue to get this treatment and it would be ongoing. Give what heals, take away what harms is how we live here. > > > > That's interesting that even with stem cells, chances are better > > after doing certain biomedical interventions. Guest guest
I never said that I did BED, but my son has been on GFCF for the last 8 years. We also did SCD at some point, and took out soy and corn at other times with no apparent consequences I just want to point out that it is not usually as simplistic as putting your child on the diet or supplements...etc. I think there is much more to it and unfortunately it is not one solution for all. For those of us parents who have tried almost evething we hear about and still have not gotten the results that every one else claims, it is extremely frustrating and in my opinion gives a sense of failure as a parent. All I am saying is that it is not the same for every child...and we don't know all the answers yet. Nevertheless, we are open-minded to try things that make sense and have no high risk...
