Guest guest
Hi Garnet, He is not really in a state of misery, LOL, it is just somethign I have to keep on top of. He has been fed a raw, home-prep diet his entire life, minimal vaccs as a pup, filtered water, probiotics, zinc, no grains, etc. etc. He has been raised holistically and he is still around and going strong at 13.5...overdue for an Akita! He is on OLE, staph colostrum (a colostrum developed with staph antibodies which has helped), etc. It is all genetic. As I said he has SA (sebaceous adenitis) which is a VERY deep seated genetic disease. He has been treated homeopathically, holistically, with TCM, every which way you can think of, it is just something we are going to have to maintain. He had large doses of CS, everything...he is just a genetic flaw but he is not doing bad at all. He just has these yeasty problem areas that I have to try and figure out a topical solution to keep on top of it. If you say DMSO is not appropriate here, that is great--that is what I needed-some feedback. Right now I have a small spritz bottle with water with some alcohol to help disperse, GSE, a couple drops Neem oil. and some TT oil. I don't really care for TT as it is very potent smelling and animals have less of a tolerance for EO's although he hasn't exhibited any adverse effects. I am wondering if I should get Emu oil and mix with herbal extracts. I am quite sure if I shake up the bottle prior to application, enough dispursion will be made, so I will try EMU, water, herbal tinctures and see how that goes. I just needed a bit of penetration. Or maybe I will go back to using a monistat type cream for the time being. Even 4 caps OLE isn't seeming to knock it down. But like I said, SA is a *very* difficult genetic disease to treat--just ask the holistic vets that I've been to! Thanks for any advice on the topical stuff, I would really like to hit on something that works!! Susie
