Guest guest
I had to go to 1200mg of magnesium for a few weeks, then down to 1000mg, for a few more, then at 800mg for several months -- now he's at about 500mg per day of calcium and magnesium. He was 45 lbs at the start - now is at 50lbs. At the same time as adding magnesium, I would advise adding B6 and zinc -- but really if you go with a a high quality vitamin and mineral supplement like Brainchild Nutritionals, that will really help your child's body get in balance. Offer water as often as you can. Investigate diets to eliminate secondary allergens GFCF (gluten free casein free), Feingold http://www.feingold.org/, SCD (specific carbohydrate diet-http://www.pecanbread.com ) > > Abby has been off Miralax for a couple of months now, which is a miracle, but she just STAYS constipated !!! > I am having to do a once a week enema just for relief. Guest guest
So your going off the dosage recommendation? Yes, she does need a good multiple. She's been casein free since age one and gluten free since age 3 and she's 12 years old. We just sent off Dr. Shaw's OAT test and I'm looking into oxalates. I'm on the yahoo group to get more info. Am thinking of trying the LOD. Thanks !!! Guest guest
Instead of LOD, you might want to consider Vitamin K --I have found that giving Vitamin K (along with a balance of the other fat soluble viatmins) and VSL#3 has been a better road for my son. There is a Vitamin K yahoo group. Let me know what the test from Great Plains says -- we can compare them with my son's! > >> > >> Abby has been off Miralax for a couple of months now, which is a > >miracle, but she just STAYS constipated !!! > >> I am having to do a once a week enema just for relief. Guest guest
Does Vitamin K detox Oxalates or something? Can you tell me the benefits? Yes, I'll share that info. when the results come in !!! Guest guest
Here's the theory -- http://gutresearch.com/v1.html There's a yahoo group too -- VitaminK. is a mom of 2 boys, one with autism. She started researching and came up with this theory. I have pretty much followed the protocol (adding things mainly) for my son since Dec, and it has helped him get rid of the oxalates caused by miralax (can't prove that causation -- but since there's not a kidney stone for 3 generation on either side of the family.....) > >> >> > >> >> Abby has been off Miralax for a couple of months now, which is a > >> >miracle, but she just STAYS constipated !!! > >> >> I am having to do a once a week enema just for relief. Guest guest
Hi, Being new to the group and in dire need to find a quick solution to the impaction we have, I did not give myself the chance to read through back posts......sorry! Your post here on the magnesium of 1200mg just caught my eye - from calculation I make your son's weight to be about 20 kgs at 45lbs. My son is about 48kgs but I've not tried levels of magnesium beyond 1000mg .....ummmmm ... this is interesting and gives me more to think about. I also just wanted to say that I read your other post on this thread with the link to the article of Vit K (this makes interesting reading and with my inadequate/lack of scientific/medical understanding) it really makes some very interesting points for me). Thank you for posting this. Just thinking through things here ...my son's multivit has no Vit K and he has been on various ones since starting the very restricted keto ratio, but he has never been supplemented with vitamin K. I see that the article mentions neurological signs etc and seizures (in autism). Looking at my son:- he has high oxalates, he is on the keto diet which has high supplemention of calcium (using forms other than citrate), but only started showing physical signs of oxalates when we started supplementing with calcium magnesium citramate and whether this explains anything but his bones are quite weak and also over the last couple of years, he started to develep flexed wrists (can this be a build up of calcium deposits which does not allow for him to extend his wrists fully? - so the calcium is not going to where it should be). We started biomed treatment intially with epsom salt baths and it is recently that we are noticing that his wrists are not flexing up as badly as before, he has more moments where they are relaxed and not curled up. Got to stop here, as going off topic somewhat from the subject. Thanks, emily > > > > Abby has been off Miralax for a couple of months now, which is a > miracle, but she just STAYS constipated !!! > > I am having to do a once a week enema just for relief. Guest guest
, Do they know why his wrists curl up? It sounds like tetany. Are his fingers tight and curled as well? Was he on peg 3350?
