Operative report question

In preparation of sending everything to TCI, I have gotten all Tasha's medical

records. The surgeon had not said anything to us about finding any unusual

findings, but a couple are noted in the operative report.

1) " Interestingly, the C1 lamina was quite abnormal. There was a bifid C1.

There was a bifida with a defect at C1. It was a very cartilaginous C1 until we

came laterally when it was very compressive. " Okay, if I understand correctly

from what I have researched this means that she has spina bifida occulta. But,

it is simply affects one vertebrae and should not be any big deal; the research

I have read says that the occult form is the mildest form and will many times go

undiagnosed. In researching spina bifida, I have not seen anything regarding

cartilaginousness or compressiveness of vertabrae. Is there anything I should

be aware of here?

2) " The bone [speaking of the bone where the craniectomy was performed] was

quite abnormal in the posterior fossa. In fact, the rim of the foramen magnum

was almost horizontal and compressing the craniovertebral junction in a very

significant way. " This finding I have not been able to find anything on the

Internet. Could this have anything to do with her ongoing problems?

Finally, her final MRI noted cerebellar matter settling. I have wondered if

this was in any way related to cerebellar slump. The operative report shows

that the craniectomy was made 3cm wide and 2cm high. Does this sound like a

usual size? Would it be too large and might contribute to settling or slump?

Sorry for the length. I am just trying to figure all this out. Plus, I have

family going, " What does that mean?...Let me know when you find out. "

Thank you in advance for anyone who might be able to provide us some insight

into this.
