Guest guest
Hi Martha! I just wanted to say " welcome " and that we are glad you finally joined in!! I'm like you... it's a comfort to know I'm not insane. I had thought I was for 23 years until I found this group. > > I've been reading this web site for about a year but have never joined in. I hope this is responding to the right email - from (about digging her fingernails into her ankle). I think I may be the oldest one so far - I'm 56. I've had this since I was about 8 - at least that's when it started - and it's gotten worse - sorry to say. My father was my first trigger and when I was little I used to scratch and bite my arms and pull my hair - never to the point of drawing blood but I would leave marks. So I know what you mean. I'm not embarrased about it anymore and that has gotten better. Probably because I have more control about getting away from my triggers than I did when I had no choice but to figure out some way of dealing with it. > > As so many of you have said I thought I was alone with this disability. That's what I have strated to call it since it has had such an effect on my life. Although I wouldn't wish this on anybody it's really a comfort to know that I'm not insane. > > And just a comment about the CBT. I've been in some type of therapy on and off since I was 16. The 4S is always want sent me to therapy and while I benefited from most of it it has had absolutely no effect of the 4S. >
