Guest guest
My son is 10- I saw his films last week and the ACM was obvious, but today came the report... _________________________________________________________________ IMPRESSION: Chiari Malformation with the tonsils extending beneath the foramen magnum with pointing of the tonsils as well as widening of the central canal at the c1-2 level with elongation of the brainstem, but without elongation of the fourth ventrical and without beaking of the tectum. Without enlargement of the massa intermedia with the present abnormalities felt most consistent with a PROMINENT Chiari Malformation. No hydrocephalus Normal appearing corpus callosum No diffusion abnormality _____________________________________________________________________ Is widening of the central canal the same as hydromyelia? If so, what does this mean? Would this mean that surgery is necessary? Couldn't TCS cause the elongation of the brainstem? His lumbar MRI was normal. Conus at T12-L1. No fatty changes within the filum. No fatty deposition at the lumbosacral junction. Normal appearing marrow signal. ANY INSIGHT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
