Guest guest
Which doctor makes that call? Is it the anestesiologist or ortho? I would hate to drive that far (7 hours) and take off the cast to not get a new one. Thanks for the name of the steroid! Keep fingers crossed!!! Jill>> Jill,> My husband is a Pediatrician and strongly recommends using Orapred, My daughter Lucy, (Addy's twin) seems to get the croup quite often in the winter and if we catch it early in the day, by that night she's sleeping great. We are supposed to travel for 's next casting on Monday and woke up with the croup. I had to ask my in-laws who were visiting this weekend to change their flight to stay longer with the other two kids. What do you think the likelihood of him getting better by then is? Why does he have to get sick now?!!!> Thanks for listening,> Jill>

Guest guest
Sophia has had croup a bunch and we have ended up hospitalized twice for it. The docs told us it doesn't always progress- every case & every kid is different. It was just more severe for her when it did progress, they said due in part to her low muscle tone. We always ended up having to get the steroid shot. The oral steroid actually made her worse- had something to do with her bad reflux, low tone combo. So, basically there is no guarantee either way. It may go away or it may get worse. Just do all the croup things- steamy bathroom to night air, humidifier, slightly elevated head at night, etc. We will be praying for you. Guest guest
Hi Steph, I think you are right and that it will come down to the last minute as to if we will know what we should do. I will definitely post to let you know how this all turns out. I remember it happened for Noelle too. Like the time before casting isn't stressful enough, right? Thanks for the support.
