I know that a lot of you must think that I am a big fan of walking

because of all this, but in truth I am not. I can see the benefits

of walking but, through my own experiences, I have come to

understand a great deal about the circumstances of being overweight.

Besides those limitations, there are a lot of people who have

serious health issues which makes walking not realistic, painful and

even damaging. Are they supposed to just giv up because of this? Or

worse do they walk anyway and do further damage, eventually being

forced to quit? Walking has helped me come a long way in my fight

against obesity but it came at a price too.

I read a lot on the group and hear the same things repeatedly,

people trying to find alternatives or modifications to the rigors of

walking. I have been advocating swimming for overweight people for

quite some time. (Just ask , I am sure she is getting tired of

me saying it)

The simple truth is that with regular swimming, you will get more

exercise seemingly with less effort, an all-over exercise that has

very little impact on the body, have you ever heard of getting a

blister while swimming? Plus, water has unique pain relieving

qualities and more importantly it is very therapeutic.

If I could, I would have been theFatmanSwimming instead. But I

didn't want to deal with the complications of the Panama Canal. All

that you need to do is learn to ignore the occasional stare and

anyway, once you are in the water you are just another bobbing

head.

Just my opinion.
