Take care and God bless you. Maggie Hi Everyone: This is Shirley from Southern Illinois. I am home from the rehab hospital. I had my surgery (both knees replaced) on Feb. 8th. I have to say about the first 3 days I thought I had made the WORST mistake of my life. I thought I WAS NEVER going to be able to walk again. However, after spending time in rehab where they really worked us all day long.
Guest guest
Shirley, I'm so glad that you are home and the worst of it is behind you. Surgery is always so scary. I will continue to pray that the other concerns work out okay. Again, you have a lot of prayers coming your way from this group and that is powerful. Thanks so much for letting us know what's going on with you. We were wondering. Take care. Elaine Hi Everyone: This is Shirley from Southern Illinois. When we wasn't in physical therapy we were in occupation therapy learning how to dress ourselves and do things for ourselves. I even had to learn how to put on those TERRIBLE Tedi hose. They have all kinds of gadgets to help you pick things up and hold on to them and this real neat thing to thread your hose onto. It has a rope attached and after the get the stocking situated on the form you drop it to the floor - hold onto the ropes and point your foot down. Stick the foot in and pull up on the ropes - it pulls the stocking onto your foot and part of the way up your leg then the form slips out. I am still having in home health care. The nurse came yesterday and the therapist comes today. The surgery went very well. However, I had another problem crop up. My blood platelets keep increasing. I seem to have iron deficiency anemia and am losing blood somewhere. They are concerned about blood clots. I have to go tomorrow for a Doppler test to check for blood clots and then to my regular doctor to set up some appointments such a colonoscopy. I feel pretty sure they will all turn out ok. One ADVANTAGE came of all this. I lost 12 pounds between the day I went into the hospital and the day I was discharged. I DON'T THINK I would recommend that way as a way to lose weight though - HA.Well it's time for me to go have some lunch and get ready for the therapist to come. Steve: I was very sorry to hear about your personal problems. I am glad that you and April are able to remain friends and work together for the benefit of your children. That is so important. I am praying to God will comfort both of you and give you peace. I congratulate you on all you have accomplished.Shirley from Southern Illinois http://www.thefatmanwalking.com/ Keep walking Steve!!! Guest guest
Shirley, I'm glad your surgery went so well. I'm sure the setback will be easily fixable. You sound like a very strong and determined person and you have the faith. I know you will be fine. I'll pray for you also. Take care and keep in touch because we are all concerned about you. Don't give up. Hugs and Kisses Conniesbrown857@... wrote: Hi Everyone: This is Shirley from Southern Illinois. I am home from the rehab hospital. I had my surgery (both knees replaced) on Feb. 8th.
