Guest guest
There was this kid in my Criminology class this past semester, he sat two seats away and he constantly cleared his throat. He did it in a really obnoxious way and I just wanted to smack him, or at least yell at him to knock it off. I eat in my room and my husband eats in the living room! I wear Bose Noisecanceling headphones. They help a lot!!$300.00 but I got a monthly payment of $29.99 or something like that for ayear!!It is so worth it!! >>Reply-To: Soundsensitivity >To: Soundsensitivity >Subject: throat clearing>Date: Wed, 17 May 2006 16:01:38 -0000>>Does throat clearing drive any one else nuts? Guest guest
Does throat clearing drive any one else nuts? OH MY GOSH!!!! You have no idea (well, yes you do). My son has mild tics and one is throat clearing. He gets so upset with me because I tell him to stop and he can't help it BUT I can't help it either. I feel like I could go crazy. It's like it makes my whole body go into a panic state. The sound of it bothers me and makes me angry for so long after he does it that I never get a chance to calm down before he does it again. When he is having a bad day with it I can't even be around him or it will result in a yelling fight between the two of us. It's so hard when it involves the children. I realize I'm hurting my relationship with him but it's so uncontrollable at the time it's happening that the only thing I can do is react to make the noises stop. I regret it and feel guilty later when the noise is far away and my brain is working again. Usually this ends with sleepless guilt ridden nights and the feeling that I'm " ruining " my own child with my craziness. Kim

I fell guilty to, like I'm the nut and have no tolerance. Sometimes though, I think others are insensitive to the noises they make.
