Guest guest
On Gray's Anatomy, the chief of staff on the show made a comment when I was watching the show that " the hospital ranked low because their great surgeon quit and another surgeon was autistic, " so the writers wrote in autism in a negative manner. I watch the shows every week, but having a child with autism, I will definitely write to these shows. It was upsetting watching them this week, since autism was reflected so negatively. > > > > > Subject: Re: Private Practice > > To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy > > Date: Friday, January 9, 2009, 1:28 PM > > Yup. > > I guess someone just had to try to make a point when > we as > > parents > > know what we know! > > They should've atleast addressed something about > > staggering the > > shots. Guest guest
OMG you're right!!! She was in it a few episodes ago and they stereo typed Aspergers pretty severely... I did grimace at those shows and the comment yesterday too. The shows were originally written by the same person - worth a letter asking why she is so anti-autism I think too! > > > > > From: Rains > > > > Subject: Re: Private > Practice > > > To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy > > > Date: Friday, January 9, 2009, 1:28 PM > > > Yup. > > > I guess someone just had to try to make a point > when > > we as > > > parents > > > know what we know! > > > They should've atleast addressed something > about > > > staggering the > > > shots. Guest guest
That's right it is the same writers, they must be as ignorant as the person on the plane that traveled on Southwest with us when we took our son to a specialist in Baltimore, he asked us if we could get our son to stop moving so much, he wasn't kicking the seats but he was stimming, I told the man that my son had autism. The man said I understand, but that's not my problem, I then responded, " well you don't have to be so damn ignorant! " The man turned around and did shut the hell up and never looked back or said one more word. I know this will happen throughout our lives but we have to speak up. > > > > > > > From: Rains > > > > > > Subject: Re: Private > > Practice > > > > To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy > > > > Date: Friday, January 9, 2009, 1:28 PM > > > > Yup. > > > > I guess someone just had to try to make a > point > > when > > > we as > > > > parents > > > > know what we know! > > > > They should've atleast addressed > something > > about > > > > staggering the > > > > shots.
