This is what we've been trying to figure out? What does the body break it down into? We decided to start this group to bring everyone together to hear their testimonies and research all the side affects submitted to the FDA to find out, what this does to the body. According to the company................they say it doesn't break down. Tell that to the people who have died on this..............Please read the testimonies from the FDA and you decide........... Is it a coincidence that the side effects are exactly the same as ethylene glycol? And that it was made from a derivitive of ethylene glycol? Jeanie tillyschmilly wrote: What is PEG metabolised into? Please refer me to a study that details the metabolites of PEG. I was under the impression that if scientists say it is 'inert', they have tested it and found that it is not broken down by intestinal flora or anything else.

I hadn't heard of Movicol, found it to be used in the UK. So, checked it out...found this:

http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/medicines/100001760.html

I don't know this site or it's reputation...but it clearly states that Movicol should not be used in children under 12. Interesting that Miralax (seems to be the US's version of the UK's Movicol) is deemed okay for children, short term, but not Movicol, yet it's chemical compounds are relatively the same (PEG 3350).

Please don't make such ridiculous statements. PEG is not totally inert and nontoxic. For some people the 3% - 9% that is absorbed into the body is metabolised and does not have toxic effects. BUT -- depending on the intestinal culture, the amount that is absorbed is not able to be metabolised. Read the studies --- please don't make statements that are so ill informed.Dr Wakefield has not been discredited. He is a brilliant brave doctor who is being attacked by the government and the media because they are scared that people will not immunize their children. It is politics not science at work here.>> Each sachet is 6.9g and you can go up to 4 sachets a day. It says it is > suitable for long term use.> > PEG is non-toxic and inert. You are right.........Colace was not on there, my mistake....but the next three are the same, they just added electrolytes because people were expieriencing hyponatremia and complications, so they decided to add electrolytes to balance the system. They are all the same component, just diluted with electrolytes to give more to flush more.............They are all bowel preps, it states it in the previous post. Bowel prep......Bowel cleanse all the same.......mbaron474 wrote: Some of these are
