Guest guest
Hi there, I am seeing another neuro - we'll see what he says. I can pee - and I don't get infections. But, I have had some accidents. The uro said it was because I don't feel I have to pee until I am full - so I race to the ladies room. And since I don't empty, I go through this every hour or two. When I cath, I can go for four hours. So I kinda prefer it.... I cathed right before a long car trip so I didn't have to stop every hour. I lasted about as long as the others with me. But now I am very sore - so maybe I damaged something. Is it worse to cath or not cath....(that is the question....lol)? Guest guest
> But now I am very sore - so maybe I damaged something. Is it worse to cath > or not cath....(that is the question....lol)? When I first tried to cath, I was quite compulsive about getting every possible drop out, especially after a nurse friend suggested that I might have pockets that held urine, after I wasn't going any longer between peeing whether I cathed or not. When I did that (tried to get every drop out) I was poking and prodding so much that I would give myself bladder spasms, and occasionally bleed ! The spasms hurt big time. I don't have enough sensation to feel pain at my meatus. (You should have seen how I finally figured out how to find it without a mirror, since I got no feedback from feeling the catheter!) -- Life shrinks or expands In proportion to one’s courage. Guest guest
Hi . I also cath because of the same reason-not knowing when my bladder was full (they called that a neuroegenic bladder). I also had a ton on uti's. I've cathed for 3 weeks almost and so far i haven't had a infection. I also get sore, but i think that is normal. I guess it depends on the infections. That was my biggest thing. I was getting one at least once a month and i recently found out i have kidney reflux. Take care and God Bless, Sara --- valerie lil wrote: > > Hi there, > I am seeing another neuro - we'll see what he says. > > I can pee - and I don't get infections. Guest guest
We went through the bite/early pick up cycle in elementary too. It got more and more frequent and earlier and earlier until I told them I wouldn’t pick him up early again and they would have to suspend him and put it on record which they did. It did result in an FBA (Functional Behavior Assessment) and a BIP (Behavior Intervention Plan) and a change of teachers. CECP has a mini-web on FBAs at http://cecp.air.org. Look in the left frame. A restaint wasn't used THIS time but my dd bit the teacher and I was called to pick my dd up early in order to prevent another incident. Hummmmm. . .. .seems they can just do whatever they won't and not be held accountable!!! Why would a 'INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST' be assigned to investigate in lieu of the 'BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST?' Guest guest
We have an FBA and a BIP in place already but it seems it's not worth the paper it's on! Guest guest
Depelchin has a parent support group. There is also an autism meet up group. Go to www.meetup.com and search Houston Autism. Does anyone know of a parent support group in Houston area? Feeling overwhelmed and I think talking with other parents who are or may have been where I am now would be beneficial. Thx!Connected by MOTOBLUR™ on T-Mobile Re: feed back My twins attended the Summer Social Skills Camp at the Parish School which is based on -Winner's concept, "Thinking About Me, Thinking About You". D Attaway, M.S., CCC-SLP is the director of Social Thinking at Parish as well as at the Carruth Center at Parish and is personally mentored by -Winner. She was EXCELLENT and as far as I know Carruth offers Social Skills classes year round. Check them out at www.carruthcenter.org
