So basically, you are saying happiness comes from within oneself. Everything external is an extension of what we have inside ourselves. If we cannot find happiness without the external things, then all the externals in the world can not give it to us.

Amen!

tells me that I should share things with the group even if I think that it has little or no context. Because I trust her judgment here we go.

Steve I enjoyed reading this post. The thoughts and messages are very powerful. Short term gratification can have profound, long term effects on future happiness.

Keep on walking. My knees still have me shut down.

Put you knee braces on and hit the dusty trail.

Yes, what part of that do you NOT understand.

Howie I tried that. Believe me I tried. They just kept getting worse. I have to give them time to rebuild. I have taken way to many tylenol and prescription Naproxen. Good luck to you

But I know you like to keep moving, . Have you thought about swimming or working out in the water, as Steve suggested?

Thank you Elaine

I would like to be able to do that but the situation here availability of pool etc, Makes it almost impossible. As a side note. My knees, feet & legs felt better this morning than they have in many days.

This is Howie from Colorado. Just get up and get going. No more excuses. Take some vitamin I. That is short for IBPROFIN. Put you knee braces on and hit the dusty trail. Yes, what part of that do you NOT understand. Good-bye for now and goo luck. dougpapa@... wrote: tells me that I should share things with the group even if I think that it has little

It's interesting what people think OTHERS (and some may do it to themselves as well, I guess) should do in the interest of being healthy. I was once told by someone that if he was fat (like me) he wouldn't eat for a year. I replied, then you'd be dead. Yeah but, I'd be thin, he said.

It says a lot, doesn't it. Better to be dead than fat. I was just thinking this morning that being fat and/or being unattractive doesn't mean someone is a bad person or less of a human being. Just as being thin and/or attractive doesn't make one a better human-being. So it's incredible to me that many people treat an attractive person better than an unattractive person (with all else being equal). How in the world did that get started, I wonder. What is that all about?

It's better to have a healthy knee, , so that you can do those marathons in the future rather than injuring your knee permanently so that you can never do another one -- or even walk. But I know you like to keep moving, . Have you thought about swimming or working out in the water, as Steve suggested?

Hi : BELIEVE ME - I know what you are saying. I had trouble with both knees for several years. I just kept trying to build them back up but I finally had to give in. Both knees were really bad. It caused trouble with my back and my feet also when I tried to force myself to keep on walking. I had both knees replaced on February 8th and I am starting to do MUCH BETTER. I still have a lot of pain at times but I am walking now without a walker and getting stronger each day.

I hope you can get some relief and will get better but if you have to have surgery - I would like to let you know - at this time I have NO REGRETS of having it done. Although the first 3 day I CERTAINLY DID. EVERYTHING depends on the rehab. I am still having a therapist come to my home 3 times a week and when I finish with the In-Home Care I will go to Out-Patient therapy. I was in an Acute Rehab Hospital for almost 3 weeks with INTENSE therapy.

I wish you LOTS OF LUCK -

I would like to say hello to the group and apologize for not writing sooner to those who sent such nice messages to me. I have had to go through some tests and things that I wasn't expecting but so far everything seems to be coming out ok.

I will get back to writing soon - Shirley from Southern Illinois

Shirley,

Thanks for the good news. I am sure no apologizes are necessary. ANY

surgery does take time for the individual to recoperate and you seem

to be doing real well.

Glad to see that you're back.

Gerard

Shirley, It's great to hear that you are doing so well. You know it always take hard work to get where you want no matter what it is. You sound good. Keep up the good work and I know you will be up and running in no time. Conniesbrown857@... wrote: Howie I tried that. Believe me I tried. They just kept getting worse. Hi Elaine,

That attractive vs unattractive bit apparently is to do with the

human mind's quest to seek perfect symmetry. Although none of us are

perfect, the 'attractive' face / body etc... is closer to

the 'perfect' proportions... represented by the 'perfect

number'or 'the divine ratio' which is 1.618... something or other.

Apparently it is an innate response on behalf of a man or woman, in

our search for a partner... and species survival.

Leonardo Da Vinci, as do many other artists, used these proportions

in his paintings and drawings.

Having said all of that guff... you are correct, some of

the 'bulldust' that is spoken by some obtuse individuals is

inexcusable.

Good to join in,

Tugger

ps Go Steve!
