, thank you for your concern but chronic constipation runs in my family . My mom and dad had it ,my sisters and brothers have it and we all have hemorrhoids and I have had 2 henorrhoid surgeries. I have been to specialists and have been on special diets and i do have reactive hypoglycemia and am on a special diet which is more stricter than a diabetic as I put out too much insulin when I eat sugars, pastries and hi simple carbs and other foods. Believe me I have tried everything and miralax was one med that helped but now I'm having mouth irritations and sores and have been to all kinds of drs to find out why,and even had my mouth biopsied and it came back as chronic irritation. and even went off miralax for 2 months and still had mouth problems but my dr. wants to try another med for constipation and its getting to the point that I;m reluctant to try anymore meds. I even tried magnesium, and natural supplements. I eat plenty of salads and am

limited on fruits. a gastroenterologists put me on miralax and a colo rectal dr said it was ok.to take miralax. i am now trying eliminating certain foods, and other things and i will take any advice I can get. I appreciate your email and will try some of your suggestions. my problem is my mouth as miralax does help me but I'm not sure if its the miralax causing my mouth problems or not.like you say theres nothing thats really safe proof. thank you marglittlelief wrote: Marg, You mentioned in one message

something about not seeing the evidencethat it's *not* safe, but can you really be convinced that there isevidence that it *is* safe? Why take the chance if there arealternatives that are more natural? Also, have you tried figuring out what the underlying cause of yourconstipation is? A conventional medical doctor is likely not going tohelp you out on this and will likely only be interested in prescribinga drug (e.g., Miralax) to relieve the constipation. IMO, it is moreimportant to figure out what's causing you to be constipated in thefirst place. As most of the parents here can probably attest, it's often a hugepuzzle trying to get to the heart of the problem, but I can bet that alot of people can offer advice/suggestions. Maybe it is as simple as not getting enough of a particularnutrient(s). Maybe it's more complex (food 'allergy'/sensitivity, gutflora dysbiosis (yeast or other non-friendly

flora), etc., etc.). Maybe it's something physical (e.g., motility). Have you tried eliminating any potentially problematic foods (i.e.,gluten and/or casein containing foods)? By keeping a thorough fooddiary for a while and keeping track of your bm's at the same time, youmight find that a certain food(s) correlate to the constipation. Alternatively, you could try an "elimination diet" (google forguidelines) - if you eat the very simple, limited diet (usuallyturkey, rice, and a few specific veggies/fruits) for a short period oftime and see if you get improvement. If so, then you add back in onefood every couple of days and keep a close eye on the symptoms.best, > > According to what I've read, it is written that this COULD > cause fatalities if certain bacteria is in the gut, I don't think > the people handing this out, know this.............nor are they > checking first................> > > > > > > >

I was just wondering why lactulose would be so low on your list - ?

Thanks,
