Guest guest
I once bought some commercial DMSO gel for arthritis that had rose oil in it for use on skin. I have added cedar oil and sage oil to DMSO for use on skin with no problems. This covers the smell. Takes just a few drops, not much. Test it first though. Once read of a case where someone used Eucalyptus oil along with DMSO on a knee and ended up with an abcess due to the Eucalyptus. > I would _not_ use DMSO with essential oils since they are not for oral > consumption. Guest guest
Garnet, If you're still bothered by sciatca try to find a good massage therapist who does trigger points and can work on your piriformis muscle as that's usually the culprit! Rick DMSO and Essential Oils Actually I mix it with Peppermint Oil, for sciatica and arthritis pain. Works great. On road trips if it were not for this I would have to pull over and stop driving when the sciatica flares up from long hours in the driver's seat. Guest guest
Hi Garnet, Since you have Sciatica and use essential oil, here is a recipe called Deep Tissue Repair that actually calls for DMSO. Its used for arthritis, torn ligaments, pulled muscles and maladjusted vertebrae. Can also be used for headaches almost instantly if you put a drop on both temples. Of course, avoiding eye contact. Some folks have used it in conjunction with Dr. s BF & C formula for excellent long term results. Sounds like enough for an army, but cutting back on the quantities, smaller amounts could be made. Deep Tissue Repair Oil Formula 32 Oz Wintergreen Oil. 16 Oz Cold pressed Organic Virgin Olive Oil 12 Oz Menthol Crystals (must be made from Peppermint or Thyme) 1/2 Cup DMSO 2 Cups Arnica Flowers (dry) 2 Cups Calendula (Dried Marigold Flowers) 1 cup Ginger Root 1/2 cup Cayenne (hottest you can find = Habanero) Blend for 2 minutes and store for 2 weeks. ADD the DMSO after you have pressed the Tincture. Do not get this formula near water in any shape or form of you mixture will mold. Otherwise, it should be good for quite a while. A less intensive preparation wise for immediate using EO's only which I find works without fail is as follows. Adding DMSO would really crank up the EO's effectiveness for afflicted tissue. MUSCLE ACHE BLEND - in these proportions - Lavender - 1/3 - (anti-spasmatic) Sage - 1/3 (anti-inflamatory) Clary Sage 1/3 (muscle relaxant) Pimenta Berry - 4 drops Black Pepper - 4 drops (warmng -stimulates circulation, & lymph) Birch - 4 drops (muscle relaxant) Clove - 4 drops. Guest guest
Isn't this a lot of wintergreen oil? I mean, it can't be essential oil--what can it be? Samala, -------Original Message------- Deep Tissue Repair Oil Formula 32 Oz Wintergreen Oil.
Guest guest
So, this is still 2 ounces of wintergreen (or peppermint) oil. So it must not be an essential oil? Is it wintergreen or peppermint infused in some base oil? Or is it really essential oil? If it's actually essential oil--whew! Stinky :-) especially for someone like me who doesn't care for peppermint. Lol This is a lot like Dr. Schulze's deep tissue oil, but his doesn't have the DMSO in it. I suppose there are a lot of versions, but I think the DMSO would be a great addition. Samala, -------Original Message------- I'll say! , glad you caught that...you are hereby dubbed as official post proofreader. Thanks. Actually, it would be 2 ozs Wintergreen. In fact, based upon personal sensitivity preference, it could be 1 oz. ppmint & 1 oz wintergreen, or just peppermint. There are a few versions of the deep tissue formula. However, few use DMSO. Some use other herbs like Comfrey. The version I gave was one from the Aromatherapy and Herb course I took which called for the DMSO. Guest guest
I just went to the site, heal marketplace, and went to their product information page to read about something. Instead, got another wake up call about the FDA. How sad for us all. They really do want to put everyone except the pharmacy companies out of business. We can't say an herb does something, and sell it too, but the pharmaceutical companies sure can. I guess the commercial that really makes me want to choke someone in authority " is the one where they list one of the side effects as " may cause gambling " !!!!! Samala, -------Original Message------- From: Carol Ann Here is another version of the formula wherein all the ingredients can be bought in bulk as a kit and as you can see, they use Aloe Vera Gel and Castor Oil in lieu of the Olive Oil and virtually no herbs save the Cayenne. http://www.healmarketplace.com/marketplace/Herb-formula.html. Guest guest
Sounds like a powerful formula. I love using calendula for healing, great idea to put it in a formula like this, I would not have thought of that and tend to apply things in layers rather than mixing up together, probably out of laziness but it also allows me to control the process depending on the wound I am dealing with. On the Wintergreen Oil though, I had a discussion with Butch Owen, owner of http:// av-at. com that Wintergreen is not natural and must be synthesized, there are concerns for its safety. I rarely used it much before hearing this -- just never liked it, funny. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/oils_herbs_etc/ Message #46765: " Methyl salicylate (which is 98% - 99% of the total content of Wintergreen) stays in the body a long time - the liver does not process it well. Infrequent use would probably not harm a person with a healthy liver but the reasons folks use them is for chronic problems so infrequent use is not the norm. And I for one can't tell you just how healthy my liver is .. but maybe other folks know more about theirs. Guest guest
Hi Garnet, I am familiar with the Herb and Oil list as well as Butch and 's opinions. Truthfully, what I found was that many members of that list perceive to be the undisputed, unchallenged authority, as far as the American mentality goes regarding the use of EO's. , from what I have read of his website, course descriptions and " opinions " is diametrically in opposition with many of the ways that Europeans use the EO's. It seems that for many Americans Dr. Valnet, a pioneer, lacked credibility, nor is he on s recommended read list. It seems that there are two distinct schools of thought. An example though a little OT but to illustrate a point. Europeans use Ozone therapy extensively while most Americans still believe it to be lethal in any form. Dr. Valnet, will for many maladies prescribe the EO's to be safely taken for internal use. American aromatherapists will usually scream almost obsenities at such a suggestion. Mainly, I think from fear of prosecution and to keep EO's safe from the glaring, scrutinizing eye of the FDA. Yet, many of the European aromatherapists incorporate internal use of EO's into their practices.. In short, the American mentality is often very different from the Europeans and as far as I am concerned, lacking the actual studies, the jury is still out. Yes, many people " prefer " the peppermint over the wintergreen. As with all EO's, like many other things in life, it is always a matter of preference, sometimes driven by sensitivity. I am not particularly fond of the much loved Ylang Ylang or innocuous Patchouli as much as I am drawn to the regular use of Myrrh and incense. Dr. 's Bone Formula tincture wise no longer contains Comfrey due to its suggested liver implications and the FDA admonishments. Last week I ordered the powdered herb formula which does contain Comfrey. How healthy is my liver......like you, I cannot be certain. Like any other substances, I have no guarantees that if I use it long term it will not affect me. I will like anything else, use discretion and listen to my body. http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0892813989/ref=sib_dp_pt/103-5661413-7878229#rea\ der-link Garnet wrote: Sounds like a powerful formula. I take oil of oregano orally quite regularly to help with my SIBO -- small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. It is better than antibiotics, which cause Candida overgrowth, while oil of oregano does not. So I would suggest some essenstial oils are useful taken orally, but with care and knowledge, certainly. I cannot figure out how to post this, so I guess I'll leave it here for a while, and maybe something will clear up or become obvious to me. Guest etm567
I do always dilute the oil of oregano -- and I always buy a good product from Turkey or Greece which has not been diluted -- by at least four to one, with something like olive oil. Sometimes I put it in capsules. But I think it has entirely saved my life, not that I would have died, but I would have given up, entirely. I was stuck in a panic attack for years, and it was due to mineral and vitamin deficiencies I could not recitfy due to my disability to absorb nutrients, due to the overgrowth of the wrong bacteria (bacteria from the large intestine) in the small intestine. That's SIBO, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. Sounds kind of innocuous, but it will wreck your life for sure. I was trembling with fear for years. And this was not fear caused by an emotional problem, it was just pure physical fear, caused by an upset and deprived central nervous system. I never want to go back there.
