I am located in the Transplant Service Office it only took 8 years to be finally

moved from the Patient Access Service area. It is much better to be located

here and have more time to follow up with patients that are pre and post with

ins problems or changes.

The only persons not located in the Transplant office at this time are the

Social Workers.

I am the financial counselor at Shands Hospital at the UF we average 100

combined Living donors and cadaveric transplnats a year. I am housed in the

admitting office.

We are in admitting/Patient Account Services here in Salt Lake City and

have been for over 15 years. There are pluses and minuses to both

locations. Here they prefer the financial separate from the clinical

areas for whatever reason.

I am located in the trasplant office and I would not have it any other way.

I feel like I need to be able to both hear and see what is going on....Who

needs kidney u/s? Who needs biopsy? etc....You can pick up so much more when

you are involved. I have even considered sitting at the front desk during

" clinic days " just so I can hear everything and make the appropriate calls.

You can miss so much just working in your office and not being " involved " .

patient accounts staff.

Hi everyone, I am located in the transplant clinic, but was at a different location for a year, and the transplant clinic is much better! We are a new team, transplanting kidney and k/p's, but we communicate very well, and that didn't happen when I was not in the department. I am the only Financial counselor now but they are going to hire a p/t for me..

As of this year, I'm housed in Transplant. However, I'am still half time under

the Patient Registration cost center and the other half under Transplant. I

feel more productive now that I'm housed in Transplant. I feel like part of the

team now.

, Since you are adding staff time, could you tell me the size of your

program? I am trying to gauge staff resources to program size in programs with

50 or less transplants per year.
