Guest guest
Hi Clay, I train rock climbers in Denver and depending on the athlete, this is basically the periodization protocol that I use. The demands of difficult rock climbing are strength/power oriented - much the same way sprinting is. They shouldn't be fatigued because the volume is lower, although it is very hard to get climbers to NOT work to failure. There is very little research on rock climbing and it's physio demands, and nothing about periodization for them. The junior national coach also follows this plan.
