Guest guest
Dear friends, I've been using a fluconazole in DMSO 17 mg/ml solution for toenail fungus, nightly applications. The local compounding pharmacist said he tested this formulation with a podiatrist. After almost two years of use, it did heal two but not all of my nails. I am willing to continue until all nails are clear, but I wonder if the fluconazole is needed. Honestly I find the preparation overpriced at $50 for a small dropper bottle and wouldn't mind to stop using fluconazole and continue just with the DMSO if that would be as effective. Question: Do you think just DMSO without fluconazole will kill toenail fungus? Is there anything else you would recommend to mix with DMSO? (I am not willing to use tea tree oil or anything that aromatic, as the scent makes me ill.) I also wonder if my doctor would prescribe some fluconazole for me, or I could get it directly from an internet source, because paying the pharmacist yet again to make something I could mix myself in a few minutes is starting to feel irritating! I look forward to your comments. Thanks very much, -Marie Eugene, Oregon
Guest guest
I mix CS with DMSO and I mix healing clays with it as well (just like horse liniments). I would use the mixtures until the fungus is gone. The odor issues and the fungal infection in the first place indicate adrenal and possible/probable candida issues, you could always treat from within. bt > > I don't know about fluconazole but oil of oregano usually wipes out toenail fungus over time. If the candida is systemic it may return so it's worthwhile avoiding sugars and using some combo of oregano, eucalyptus, tea tree and/or cinnamon essential oils on the soles of the feet 3-4 times per week. > > blessings.. > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > > Yahoo! Guest guest
Long Creek Herbs sells an herbal nail soak that kills nail fungus, athlete's foot, any external fungus. It is safe and can be used on pets. The base ingredient is pasteurized apple cider vinegar (not raw) which you steep the herbs in. One package of herbs makes one quart and lasts 6-8 weeks. You soak your nails once a day for 3-5 minutes. You should have clean, new nail growth showing at the cuticle in roughly 4 weeks. It depends on how fast your nails grow. Their web site is: www.longcreekherbs.com. You could also try a CS/DMSO mix. Soaking rather than just dabbing anything on is important. Getting anything to penetrate to the site of the fungus isn't easy, so soaking works best. For very thick nails, filing down the top surface of the nail helps. Some people use a Dremmel tool. Two years of treatment sounds like an incredibly long time. Once the fungus is killed, it should not return unless you are reinfecting yourself. Disinfect all nail implements every time they are used. Just dip them in alcohol or CS. Shoes are a bit trickier. Fungus loves dark damp places. Sunshine is good, or a hair dryer, or baking soda - anything that will keep the shoes very dry inside. Gold Bond Powder seems to be the least toxic of the OTC products. If you have an internal yeast overload, the fungus will keep coming back no matter what you do unless you fix the internal problem. 'The Herb Pharm' carries an herbal tincture which can be taken internally to remedy this. I don't have their web site addy. but it should be easy to find. Long Creek also carries their product for hard core cases if their nail soak isn't quite getting the job done. a
