First of all when I started Atkins I was truly at the end of my rope. I was so sick and tired of being over weight and dieting only to gain it back. I read the book DANDR and something truly clicked in me. Now I realize what really clicked was the realization that this would have to be a life change. This is key. A life change. Period. No if's and,s and but's........No "one little taste of this"..........No "Oh it's a holiday I can cheat today." ...............No "it's my birthday I DESERVE a piece of cake"........No "it's TOM, I NEED chocolate."Those are all crap, they are all excuses to cheat yourself. I made the decision to a life change. Amazing still to this day this life change worked. I used this board for help, for advice, and I learned from their mistakes. When the holidays came around and (tru2one) warned me that cheating over the holidays will make it nearly impossible to get back on, I took her serious. I stuck to Atkins, I even survived the holidays cheat free and I was stronger than ever come Jan. 1. I was a believer. Now 2 years later, I take this just as serious as I did when I started. I have lost about 57 pounds and feel better than ever. I actually pity people that are addicted to sugar. I eat healthy and I eat a lot more healthy carbs than I ever did and gain no weight. Sugar will never in my lifetime be an option for me. This is my choice, this is my commitment, this is my life that I control for the first time ever. Sugar is my addiction. Anyone can do this. I was a binge eater, a closet eater, and an overeater. I was thinking about dinner while I was still eating lunch. Slowly this changed. Detoxing my body (induction) was key. Wanting to be healthy and normal is my first priority. I still feel like I am living a miracle and I know if I can do it, anyone can do it and that means you!
