Dear tae-boers..

I just thought of an idea....if anyone interested can participate...I started

tae-bo two months ago and in the beginning i was having real hard time

sticking to it when i was not seeing results...weight loss i guess is

different for everybody and people can easily get discouraged when they get

up on the scale and don't see results especially beginners....eventhough we

see results in inches but sometimes you need to see the results on the scale

to satisfy you...so if we all share our time since we started tae-bo and the

results...it might help the newcomers stick to tae-bo and weight for their

results...when people read different results in different length of periods,

weightloss in different amounts of time some fast and some slow it will help

them have patience...so let's share..

MY RESULTS: TWO MONTHS OF TAE-BO 10 POUNDS AND ALOT OF INCHES AND I THINK

I WAS SIZE 12 AND NOW I JUST BOUGHT AN 8...FARAH

Since having my baby a year ago, I've lost 36 lbs. and tons of inches

(although I've never measured those, so I'm not sure exactly how many). I

started doing weight watchers in January and lost about 20 of those lbs from

a combination of WW and exercise....running on the treadmill, exercise

machines at the gym, weight lifting, etc. In May, I started tae-bo and

since then have lost the other 16 lbs. I saw results with tae-bo that I

have never had before, even though I have always exercised in some form. I

have much more muscle definition in my arms, legs and abs. This is the

first time in my life that I don't have to force myself to do, I actually

enjoy doing it. It's not something I " have " to do, but rather something I

" want " to do. I think I am pretty much at my goal weight, because I have

been plateaued here for awhile....I'm about 152 lbs. right now, and while I

wouldn't mind losing about 5 more lbs., I'm not that worried about it. I

can wear all my old clothes (mostly size 10's), the ones I wore when I was

actually I little bit lighter than I am now. I know that I have much more

muscle than I did then, so it's ok. I guess that's one of the most

important things I've learned on this journey...I am no longer ruled by what

the scale says. What's important is how you look and feel, not the number

that's staring back at you from the scale. Tae-bo has given me so much more

than the weight loss that I started it for.

I started Tae-Bo in mid March and had great results until September when I hit

the point where I am now. I'd like to call it a plateau, but to be honest, I

kind of gave up on watching anything I eat since then. I'm still doing my

Tae-Bo. I'm working on my eating habits too, but it's a process. I want to

make my changes permanent, not something to get to a certain weight and size

only to go back to my old eating habits. Anyway, here's my results:

Pounds lost: 26

Total Inches lost: 14

Bust: 3

Upper Arm: 1

Waist: 3

Hips: 3.5

Upper Thigh: 2.5

Calf: 1

I also started at a solid size 16 and now fit mostly 10s. My results don't read

very dramatically, but I can really feel the difference. My bad knee doesn't

bother me as much, and I'm more toned. I still have a way to go, because I'm

still what I like to call " padded " , but I'm getting there! I have a much better

attitude about life and myself too, and I can't measure that!

Hi Sharon and Elena.

You are both doing great jobs! Don't know if either of you were like

me in that before Tae-Bo I didn't start thinking about how I would look

in summer clothes until late spring, and by then it was a little

late..but isn't it WONDERFULL that now we know before Christmas that we

will be looking buff? And actually looking forward to it at that!

Lol..Ok, good I won't worry about that.

Thanks for the congrats! I just knew that someone here would appreciate

The basic live 1 did it for me..but I think any of the balancing with

the legs will help...it's resistance training, just like with

weights..but we are using our legs as the weights.

Ok, I will try to explain what I do for the triceps...but if it isn't

clear to you, take Elena's advice and have someone show it to you

because you can injure yourself with weights.

I started with a 2 lb dumbell...then worked up to a three. Sit or stand

with arm straight up in the air, holding the weight with finger tips

pointed in towards your body, keep from the armpit to the elbow

straight, you might want to hold that part of your arm (lightly) with

your other hand to make sure it doesn't move. Then bend your forearm

back..slowly ..from the elbow to the base of your neck. Do this slow,

don't let the weight pull your arm back, keep it controlled..and you

will feel the tricep tighten up. I do three reps of 12 on each side.

Rest between reps..and increase or decrease the amount of the weight

depending on you. Do it every other day. This one is very basic..but it

works for me.

I wouldn't worry too much about the extra skin, that will take some

time to catch up to your weight loss. TQ says she has quite a bit,,but

other people don't notice it until she pulls on it to show them. I had

it on the front of my neck..yech..but it seems to be getting less

everyday.

I hope this helps..and did I mention how much I enjoy this board and

the conversations here?

I have 2 suggestions for not binge eating

1. Do not watch TV at night, or do something else during the

commercials: there are so many commercials that can induce binge eating,

you wouldn't believe!!

2. Take up a night time activity that occupies your hands and your mind

so you don't think about eating. I have found that drawing, painting,

knitting, sewing all help calm my evening cravings.

Janick, good suggestions. As for #2, I keep my hands occupied on the

computer keyboard. It works for me!

Hi Everyone!

First I want to say congrats to everyone! I tried to reply to all of

them, but I might have missed a few due to my rural

server....grrrrr...it takes 20-30 minutes of busy signals before I get

connected...then lag, frequent boots, and this is the better of the two

servers available to us. Anyone, congrats everyone, and I'm sorry if I

missed anyone.

My results have been an extended lifespan..literally. Before TB I

was ready to mosey into middle age thinking genetics determined the

increased weight and it was unavoidable. I was a heart attack waiting

to happen. Also less confident and little energy. Tae-Bo chewed up all

of the misconceptions I had about aging and spit them back into my face

and taught me to take control...I am Grandma..hear me roar!

Physically I lost somewhere around 45 pounds..that changes from day

to day, because my body is still changing. I didn't build muscle and

then lose weight like many people have..I lost the weight first...now

I'm building muscle. My butt isn't flat anymore...You'll be reading

that from time to time..because I still can't believe it!

Inches lost...chest-4 waist-9 1/2 hips-5 thighs=2 upper arms-3.

I think I was a tight size 11-12..I refused to go higher so started

buying stretchy size large clothes. Now I'm a comfortable size 8.

My blood pressure is lower now than it has been for years..my

resting pulse rate is down. I just can't say enough good things about

what it has done for me..and I'm looking forward to what the future has

in store.

Nope typing doesn't do it. I still manage on munching when I'm typing on

the puter. For some reason, it doesn't completely get my mind off of

food...

Dear ,

Thank you for describing the triceps exercise to me. I have printed it

out, and will attempt it soon. I know what you mean about not thinking about

spring clothes until it is too late to do anything about it. One of the

things that motivates me now, is the prospect of looking good in summer

clothes this year. My dear friend, whom I haven't seen in years, is coming

to visit in June, and the last time she saw me, I was a size 5--so that is

also motivation for me. I have avoided telling her that I have struggled

with my weight, because she is the type of person who would discuss it with

other people who know me, (forever) and I would like it to remain private.

My family, who all live in another state, are not aware that I had put on

weight either. They have always been very focused on each other's size, and

I don't want to be the topic of anyone's conversation in that area. Every

time I have seen them through the years, I have been petite. That is one of

the things Taebo has done for me. It is allowing me to keep my secret from

friends and family, because by the time they all see me again, I will be in

control once more! ;o) Sharon

Jan,

Thank you for your congratulations! Hope everything is going smoothly

with your pregnancy! You and I have a lot of similar interests. I don't

know how to knit very well, but I love to crochet. I like to sketch (faces

and landscapes), and paint, tole, and oil on canvas. I also sew. I cross

stitched my way through quitting cigarettes, which by the way, is where my

weight problem really took off--but that's okay, I expected it. Keeping your

hands busy really does help. ;o) Sharon

Sharon,

I thought of another good exercise for the triceps that doesn't involve

weights. You lean up against a chair with your back to the chair,

palms flat on the end of the chair and do dips. This exercise really

works the triceps and you are using your own body weight so you can

really feel the burn. I just thought of this this morning while I was

working out, but couldn't remember who was looking for tricep

exercises, then I saw your message to , and thought I'd post it

for you. Hope it helps and that you can understand my description. If

not let me know.
