Guest guest
Hi all, Just thought I would introduce myself. I'm Amy from Columbus, Ohio and I have been working with NT for a year and a half now. A friend gave it to me as a going away present when we moved from Atlanta and I got it out after we had been here a month or so. I spent a whole day reading it and knew that my life would never be the same. I have always been interested in good food, but now I have the tools to make my cooking easier and more meaningful. Anyway,it just occurred to me to search for a group. I can't believe it just occurred to me, but there we are.......... I have had many successes along the way, sourdough bread, corned beef, yogurt, tons of whey, beet kvass, pickled beets, soured oatmeal, ginger ale, sour cream, cultured butter and our favorites, buttermilk pancakes. My only real failure has been Piima cream and I gave up after the third try. After reading a few posts, I think it was because my house is so cool. I have just ordered my first kombucha kit and kefir grains, so I'll be searching the archives for tips on those. Take care, Amy
Guest guest
Hi there! I did okay on the Piima, but I also sent for the Viili from GEM - that stuff is great! It's very easy, it comes out and tastes very much like yogurt - very thick, creamy, smooth and tiny bit of sour bite, like yogurt. I also hear their fil milk (Sp?) is easy too. Did you get the real kefir grains, rather than the powder? I LOVE my kefir, I seem unable to tolerate raw milk straight, even though I really desire it. But I do just fine on the kefir. I also just started my first kombucha - it's " cooking " now. That'll be interesting. Can you get raw milk in OH? Welcome! Lynne > Hi all, > Just thought I would introduce myself.
