Guest guest
How are you doing? Getting better? Do you have diabetes? I'm one of the people on the list with dx'd osteomyelitis, but it's OM of the jaw, which unfortunately means there aren't many doctors able or even willing to treat me. Orthopedists won't deal with the head up, and 99.9% of the dentists/oral surgeons are obvlivious and untrained in infectious disease. I can get abx therapy, but it's hard to locate the infected areas precisely or get a good enough surgeon to complete the equation. Are you having any surgery? What kind of doctors are treating you? Hope you're recovering. penny p.s. Have you heard of the "recirculating boot"? It's supposed to be extremely effective in OM of the foot, however many docs won't know or suggest it due to expense, etc. yumn777 <zaafira@...> wrote: Hi. I was dx with osteomyelitis of the left great toe about 3 weeks ago, and have been undergoing intensive antiobiotic therapy via IV. I'm just looking to learn more about all this. It's very tiring...B
Guest guest
Thank you for your note, Penny. I have heard of OM of the jaw in my other readings, sounds very tough. I am not diabetic, I have had some higher blood glucose results in fasting tests, but only a little bit high, not enough for a diagnosis, I suppose. I am being treated by Infectious Disease doctors along with my podiatrist. I'm still not sure if I'll need surgery. Hope you can find some help soon! Guest guest
Yeah, it's tough for all of us. I think we're all dealing with similar illness, just different manifestations. Is your foot responding to treatment? I hope so. penny BP <zaafira@...> wrote: Thank you for your note, Penny. I have heard of OM of the jaw in my other readings, sounds very tough. Guest guest
No, I'm not on blood thinners. Why is this important? I'm curious. Guest guest
Because basically failure is HIGH and unless you do the best protocol- which involves correct drugs, with the best chance of getting them to the site, your chances are lessened for complete success. > > > > Yes, my toe is responding, at least externally, that is, my wound is > > healing, finally!!! Guest guest
So, I should not be on blood thinners, correct?? I have done some online research on the meds I'm taking, but haven't come across anything on blood thinners. Thanks so much for the info. Guest guest
Your problem highly likely comes from thickening of the blood, so blood thinning IS important. Many people that get on in the years are given thinning medications to help them with many ailments. Let alone having an infected bone which is very hard to treat and hopefully your not on cipro which may make you feel better. > > > > No, I'm not on blood thinners. Why is this important? Guest guest
I'm really surprised you're not on blood thinners, since getting blood to the bone is essential, but difficult, especially when dealing with the necrosis that comes with OM. penny dumbaussie2000 <dumbaussie2000@...> wrote: Because basically failure is HIGH and unless you do the best protocol-which involves correct drugs, with the best chance of getting them to the site, your chances are lessened for complete success.> >> > Yes, my toe is responding, at least externally, that is, my wound is> > healing, finally!!!
