Guest guest
That makes sense about synthetic versus natural anti-inflammatory compounds. Have you tried any of the natural ones? I haven't, we have only seen this doctor once and that quote was one I found on her website but haven't asked her about yet. We go back on Jan 8 for test results/interpretations, so I will ask her thoughts then (if I can remember to add it to my long list of questions!!) =) Bonnie, thank you for the information on reiki, I'll do a search of old posts & Google it. Sounds interesting and I'm willing to try nearly anything natural and/or non-invasive. These more natural methods certainly must have a scientific explanation, and I agree that it would be nice for conventional medical professionals/researchers to perform research that would help (in their eyes) validate the effectiveness of the natural remedies/treatments. It's really quite a shame that Western medicine is so focused on diagnosing based on symptoms and treating symptoms rather than the underlying causes (e.g., prescribing Miralax (or other laxative) instead of seeking out the real cause of the constipation). It seems that everyone could benefit from a combination of Western medicine and alternative/natural methods. I totally know what you mean about the DH thinking it's all mumbo-jumbo! My DH and I are both scientists and I am a huge 'all-natural' as much as possible person and while he goes along with most of it, I know inside he's thinking I've fallen off my rocker at times! That's actually part of why I decided to push for the visit to the new doctor - so he could see that there can be some 'scientific' evidence of the things I've been talking about (food allergies, GI dysbiosis, etc.) and trying to treat on my own with my son. As has been said here at this group many many times - Mom-instinct is a powerful thing! Convincing DH or grandparents/in-laws is a whole different story! =) Happy New Year to all!! > > > > It seems like there have been a lot of postings about colds/flus > lately.
