Guest guest
Hello, I believe I am like many of you here. I am 48 years old and finally got the idea to good my " problem " only to find i am not alone. YAY. I guess that somehow makes me feel better, but it's still all a bummer. I've been reading older posts and see many of your have the same issues of being driven insane by certain noises, but I can't see any soloutions. Ugh-- I was hoping to find some coping mechanisms, because sadly it doesn't get easier for me. One of the HUGE irritants of my life is teeth picking, sucking. My dad has this OBNOXIOUS habit of constant sucking air through his teeth. It's like he does it every five seconds. It makes me sad because I try to avoid seeing him, but he's getting old and I really love him--- but when I was young and mentioned how this bothered me, they all said I was psycho and to deal with it. Ugh. Dad is coming to visit soon and the thought of having to sit in a room with him watching a video is already stressing me out big time. I also have the when people crunch popcorn or chips (I avoid the movies). I also hate when people snap sunflower seeds. Its' like a noise that never ends. People are work used to eat them and I just wanted to flee the room or claw someone's eyeballs out. It's a really BIG Bummer, Glad to have found you. Any tips or help would be appreciated so much. It's weird because the fingernails on a chalkboard does nothing to me, but give someone a toothpick and I go nuts. Thanks in advance.
