Guest guest
Dear Fred, I own a private practice in Buffalo,NY and we are not allowed to use anyone other than a PT Assistant to administer anything to a patient; ie. Cold Packs, HP, Stim, Massage, MFR, Mob., Ultrasound, etc. Difficult for us since we have about the lowest reimbursement in the U.S.A. My staff and I believe that the initial eval and the relationship forged between PT and patient is crucial. It is at that time when our findings and goals are communicated to the patient and the patient is informed who is personally responsible for each aspect of treatment. The patient is told that an assistant will be monitering your gym exercises after the PT has taught them. The PT will be doing all soft tissue or cranial work and the PTA will provide heat/cold or modal. PRN. We work 3 PT's and one PTA and one aide at all times. Are you near Col. Springs? I have a sister in Manitou and visit alot and she has kept me informed of healthcare changes out there. ( She is a nurse with administrative duties ). Sincerely, Dorothy F.
