air in colon/ large intestine

Does anyone know how quickly stool moves into the rectum? We went to

a new GI specialist today. He did an x-ray and said that last week's

clean-out appeared to have worked - He wasn't positive, but thought

that there seemed to be lots of air in the colon - he thinks due to

the large doses of Miralax my daughter is on. In addition, he said

that her rectum was totally empty and not to be surprised if we

didn't see any movement for several days. We have had 3 stools

starting almost immediately after the appt. Does this sound normal?

I loved this doctor so much more than the last. I am just hoping he

knows what he is talking about.
