Guest guest
Some healthy discussion of PPS and the 5 day eval period and the two days grace period would be helpful. There seems to be a pronounced dichotomy in the ways institutions are carrying this out. 1) a more conservative 5 day eval period with appropriate 7 day staffing using grace days only sporadically for exceptions 2) a more aggressive 7 day eval period with only 5 day a week staffing using the grace days on a consistent basis. Please comment on which method is most appropriate. We keep track of patients at each appt time re: no show 2. Patients are discharged quickly and charts are not refiled and lost in the system. This seems to keep the charting much more current as well. Guest guest
Todd, My impression is if grace days are used consistently, an audit is inevitable which will lead to intense scrutiny. We performed an audit to see if grace days would help us and found that in most cases it did not make much difference unless it was a short length of stay.
