Guest guest
Daptomycin, branded Cubicin, has apparantly been FDA approved since 2003. Its conceived as a last-line treatment for things like VRSA (vanco-resistant MRSA). This molecule apparantly causes ion fluxes across the bacterial membrane. Its way too large to pass by the outer membrane of typical gram-negatives, tho that may or may not be practicably " patchable " in some way eg PMID 7868392. Because this molecule is equally lethal to resting bacteria, its possible it could be a real hammer as far as any disease that might be caused by low-metabolic bacteria. We should all keep an eye out on news/forums for unexpected results from people recovering from chronic diseases after getting this in the hospital, or, on the other hand, possibly getting very ill or even dying of a massive herx while receiving it.
