Guest guest
I notice the email requesting directions on building ones own lab to culture for bacteria was ignored. Anyone care to share this information? No doc cares to culture much of anything unless I have another open wound….
Guest guest
I assumed (but shouldn't have) that Tony or one of the others with more experience would answer your question about the lab. It's easy to do (if you've got the energy). All you need is some kind of incubator, purchased or home made, some sample dishes, culturing medium, some antibiotic discs, a good book with photos of organisms for i.d'ing. the species, and a decent microscope, which you can get second hand. Plus a notebook to record everything. I'm sure the net covers all the basics. Or I'd think you could contact a local microbiologist at a uni to get some guidance. I think it's good to remind ourselves that this is a discussion list. No one is here in any official capacity to answer questions or give advice. Not only is advice often ill received, but the majority of people here have limited energy and are looking for their own answers. I'm grateful for whatever people feel they can offer. There are several people on this list who I'm especially grateful to for going above and beyond in trying to help in various ways. Tony's been amazing for me, talking to my docs, lab, etc. But it's surprising to me how many people expect that they're owed something. Tony's an extreme example. People send him samples, call frequently, are very demanding of him and his time, then get mad about something he said that they didn't like and become really rude about it. It's one thing to act that way with your doctor, whom you're paying, but a volunteer? My advice to Tony (or anyone), which he has mostly ignored, is to not get involved until you know who you're dealing with. Whether I agree with everything Tony says or not, I understand how he feels. Sometimes you try your hardest to help people, and all you get for your effort is flak. penny julie levitt <knightshotter@...> wrote: I notice the email requesting directions on building ones own lab to culture for bacteria was ignored. Guest guest
Sorry That was me that didn't answer that asap. I sort of got a senior microbiologist from one of our leading labs to help me in my quest.I'm technically minded so I built my own temnperaturte controlled incubator, bought a decent biological microscope got lab supplies from my lab friend and was shown how to use them.Plus I've answered this question several times before and have no problem emailing you on what and how.Deqling with mrsa you also need blood plasma to check for coagulation -positive or no coagulation of plasma. You need a lab person to get you started and swing you some hard things to get.- -- In infections , " julie levitt " <knightshotter@...> wrote: > > I notice the email requesting directions on > building ones own lab to culture for bacteria was > ignored.
