An article in the September 15th Eli Report says that HCFA is considering

postponement of the $1500 cap because of the Y2K problem.

However, don't get too excited folks, seems they also could render

it effective later and make it retroactive to January 1, 1999.

Don't want to get in copyright infringement problems with Eli -- I love

reading their news and analysis, so I suggest you get your hands on

a copy of it.

Robbie -

You pretty much got it right.

The reference sites for HR 3835 is

l|> now up to 92 co-sponsors

and S.2222 is

<http://thomas.loc.gov/cgibin/bdquery/z?d105:SN02222:|/bss/d105query.html|>

now up to 8 cosponsors.

Hope this helps

That would be great, but let's try to get it repealed before the end of the

legislative session. Get your representative to co-sponsor HR3835 and your

senators to co-sponsor S2222.

I just received an e-mail today that the APTA wants chapter level membership

to contact their representatives and senators to cosponsor the two bills, HR

3835 in the house and S2222 in the senate. Regardless of whether we're able to

get some action taken during this Congress or not , the assition of new

sponsors to these bills will bode well for us in the future.

Hopes this helps,

$1500 Cap Legislation

I was at the NASL meeting in Las Vegas last week and it was reported that

HCFA is considering a $1500 per vendor cap. As strange as it seems, this

might be the interim answer. Also, representative Ensign, the original

sponsor of the proposed legislation is in a tough battle for Senator in

Nevada. This, somehow, seems to be part of the issue on the slow down of

the legislation.
