Guest guest
If that is the best description of a herx then I am herxing. It says that rigors (shills and shivering) and decrease in BP are pronounced symptoms of a herx. Remember one of the reasons I ended up in the ER when herxing is because BP was not readable on home cuff because it had dropped so low. On my second attempt at ABX I had dropped to 50 mgs of Mino every day. The result.....BP again plummiting AND I was so cold and shivering in the heat of July that I had 2 heating pads on my torso and 2 or 3 blankets on top of me trying to get warm. On the low dose Mino now, I have chills intermitently with sweats. Even when it is hot, like now I will have a sweat shirt on and off several times during the day. -- In infections , " Barb Peck " <egroups1bp@...> wrote: > > > > http://jac.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/reprint/41/suppl_1/25.pdf >
Guest guest
Maybe you are experiencing a herx, but what you are describing is also the side effects of Minocycline if you look them up. And they're more common than people realize. Ask an i.d. doc. The problem here is stating something as fact when you can't prove it. And it's the perpetuation of this that is causing people to think any negative reaction is a good thing. When it may just be a negative reaction and they should stop what they're doing. pennyjellybelly92008 <herranenb@...> wrote: If that is the best description of a herx then I am herxing. Guest guest
Hello Jelly, Have been following this thread with interest. I recently tried a minocycline regimen for 2 months. Started at 200 mg and after a few weeks, when my reactions to it got too strong (I too had many of the symptoms you mention, and especially, especially, my bp would drop dramatically during these times). I too thought it was herxing at first, but as I dropped to 100 mg, then started skipping days and finding that my symptoms were worse when I stopped, I started seriously questionning what was going on. It may have been herxing all right, but I was not willing to be sicker on abx for months at a time without a better sense of what was going on. And I was not ready to take the steps you have taken by reducing to mini doses (although I thought about it). Curiously, after having stopped the abx a month ago, I have improved. Not completely, still flaring, but there is improved energy outside of that, after one year of being completely struck down, weak, fluish ... But it is also possible that my present improvement is due to Recup, which I have been taking for a month. In my case, I am missing important information (what infections are present). I don't know if I would be willing to try mino again, though, but I do find interesting that mino may have actually made a dent in my infectious load. For what it's worth. Guest guest
Hi Carole! Just so you will know, I didn't run off willy nilly thinking if 200 mgs a day of Doxy isn't doable I'll just drop down to 3 mgs. of Mino every other day. There was reason for what seems like madness to some. I was really scared, because I didn't see that I could ever take that kind of dose of ABX. Seemed everything I tried to kill this stuff sent me reeling. Did this mean I had to do nothing at all? I started researching and came across the Road Back Foundation. There they have been using ABX in treating autoimmune related issues, first RA with ABX for decades. What I found is that there are countless people just like me and you that get really sick on ABX and literally can't function or possibly worse. I read, and I read, and then I started talking to people. It was there that I learned about extremely low doses and pulsing. I even learned how to get those tiny little doses. The goal is to ramp up as tolerated, but so far I have only gotten to 10 mgs in approx. 4 years, but my progress has never the less been amazing. They have been doing this for decades and I don't know that I ever read about anyone ending up with super bugs. There are some who stay on the micro doses for life as maintenance. I would prefer to not do that IF it is safe. So if you have not been there already, in my opinion the Road Back Foundation is a place you must visit. > > If that is the best description of a herx then I am herxing. Guest guest
Hi Jelly, Yes, I did check out the Road Back. Problem is I don't know what I'm fighting, could be something very different from what folks with RA have, mycoplasma or other. I did read many posts, looking for answers, but until I know for myself if it is mycoplasma, CP, some resistant staph or other, I guess I'm going to hold out on further abx. Even on tiny doses. At least that is my thinking for now. Have you been retested for Lyme and Myco since your improvement with mino, Jelly? (perhaps you have already answered this and I missed it). Cheers ! Guest guest
Hello Jelly, I have been out of the loop for some time now, so forgive me if I ask things you have already answered. Guest guest
As far as things for killing, yes. I take a small handful of supplements, B-12 shots and tiny dose of cortisol for shot adrenls, norvasc, for Raynaud's which I rarely have anymore and tiny amount of thyroid. Beer thing is interesting. Penny was saying something about tetra being foound in ancient bones, wonder if this was what she was talking about? > > > If that is the best description of a herx then I am herxing.
