Guest guest
Hi everyone, I so appreciated everyone’s help last week, especially ’s extensive advice. Things were going really well for a while. (Literally!) I took Genna off the Miralax cold turkey – last Wednesday was her last dose. I put her on two teaspoons of Fruit-Eze, ¼ tsp Baby Calm, Tsp Nordic Cod liver oil, Probiotics with bifidus in the afternoon, and ½ a chewable fiber tablet in the evening. She had absolutely no problems going a small amount twice a day for 5 days in a row. She has been used to going at reading time before naps and bed, and just continued like the Miralax wasn’t needed. Is it possible that it stayed in her system for 4-5 days? Three days ago her stools were firmer, and she had a little trouble going, but I thought perhaps this was because she wasn’t used to passing normal stools. Two day ago she was just unable to go – her stool was large, hard, and try as she might she couldn’t pass it. She didn’t go that day, but woke up that night around 9 pm screaming. We went to the store and got Babylax (THANK YOU to the board for letting me know about this, prior I had only used solid glycerin suppositories) and it worked within a half hour. She didn’t seem to tear, but was emotionally a mess. Yesterday I decided to take her to the holistic MD that helped my 8 year old last fall (see previous post). He wants me to do a food elimination diet, and to take Ultra Care Kids ( I think this is like a cleanse) to “heal her gut” he said. He also gave me a homeopathic remedy for her. HOWEVER, while I gather all this info about the diet and learn how to do it, he put her back on the Miralax. When I told him that it wasn’t meant for children, and not for long, he said he understood but that this was better then having her tear in the short term. So I started her again on it this morning. She doesn’t need much, I only give her 1/3 to ½ the cup dosage every day and she goes just fine. The interesting this is that she doesn’t go very MUCH when on the Miralax. When she is constipated she has HUGE stools, and I don’t get it. She had gone twice on the previous day, and yet had an adult size stool after the Babylax. I have emailed Jeannie separately to ask for the FDA sheets so I can bring them in to him when I go again. He stated point blank that he knows “nothing about it, “ and he has never prescribed it before. He did say that since she was going regularly on Miralax that she doesn’t have any mechanical issues like Hirschsprung’s. Any thoughts?? Thank you again for all your words of wisdom. Guest guest
Yes, this could be doing what it does so often, puts the bowel to sleep and it can't move, then it sits in the with nowhere to go. & wrote: Hi everyone, I so appreciated everyone’s help last week, especially ’s extensive advice.
