Guest guest
Also since we are new to this group could we have some background information on the candidates being nominated. , My name is S. Chaney. I am currently working as an Interim Treasurer for the TFCA, and have been nominated for one of the three Trustee positions. I have been interested in the development of a TFCA for about three years, because of the issues that TFC face on a daily basis. As an Interim Treasurer I have applied for a Tax I.D. for the Association and the application was received and approved last July. Since than I have applied for a Tax Exempt status for the Association that is currently in review by the IRS. I have opened a saving / checking account at the Metro Health Federal Credit Union free of any service fees. I have been active with all aspects of the development of the Association. A little work history: I am currently employed by the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Transplant Section. I have been employed by the University Medical Center for over thirteen years with over seven years experience working with transplant patients. During that time I have evaluated about 2,100 patients and have had over seven hundred patients receive an organ during my employment. The majority of my time is spent with liver, small bowel and liver small bowel patients, but I, also, have experience with kidney, pancreas, kidney-pancreas, hepatocyt cell bone marrow, and multi visceral patients. I am proud to have worked with all, but a couple of our, combined liver bowel and multi visceral patients. I've helped lobby for a bill, and presented to a hearing committee to assist tx pt in our state with high medicine co pay. Ive written an abstract called TFC training that was accepted for poster presentation by the UNOS Mtg Forum in San Diego in '99. This same abstract was used by our Managed Care Contracting Office for credentialing purposes. I've been involved with other administrative issues, projects and programs at our center including our Care Partner Program prior to the completion of our Lied Tx Coop Care Center Blding. I would be happy to share with you anytime. Guest guest
hi marlene and lori.... welcome aboard. I have been nominated for the position of TFCA Secretary. And im afraid my resume will pale in comparison to 's and 's. But I do think I can bring some necessary skill to the position. Currently I am the financial coordinator for the liver transplant program here at the University of Michigan. I also have some involvement in the kidney transplant program and am the financial coordinator for the kidney dialysis program here. I've been a transplant financial coordinator for a little over two years now so i'm a relative neophyte next to some of the coordinators across the country. I have been reasonably active in the TFCA since its inception and recently accepted the post of " interim " secretary for the association. As such I have been responsible for the creation of the membership form (DID YOU GUYS GET THAT FORM BY THE WAY?) and tracking the nominations that are going on currently. I am also developing the ballot for SLC as well as creating a rough mission statement and vision statement for the association (AND IM DEFINITELY INTERESTED IN FEEDBACK ON THOSE 2 ITEMS). I'm also the president of our condominium associations board of directors so I can bring (i hope) some insight into the organization and process for an association. Hope you found the info useful and I look forward to meeting all in SLC. rusty Rusty Ward Financial Coordinator Liver Transplant Program haroldw@... >>> M1@... 01/17 12:00 PM >>> Does anyone know the answer to the attached questions??? Guest guest
That is correct. Based on the APC's, a new account must be set up for each day a patient comes in for outpatient visit(s). A separate account for a same day outpatient visit must be set up if a patient goes to the ER. You can have series accounts for PT, etc. >>> landonw@... 12/05/02 05:04PM >>> I recently heard that Medicare can't be billed on series or recurring accounts for typical pre transplant services or for post services. We typically open an outpatient series account which remains open until patient comes for the one year follow up visit but was recently informed that we should not do this for Medicare patients. I was informed that for Medicare patients we should not open up series accounts, but should instead wait until patient is coming for services and then set up one time outpatient accounts. Any one know if this is true and if so... why? Landon V. Ware Associate Director Financial Operations Baylor Regional Transplant Institute landonw@... Guest guest
I believe we do 30 day accounts here also, but you wouldn't want to put pre-transplant and post transplant on the same account due to the different reimbursement methods. a A. Guest guest
Hi Ann Marie, As far as I know, this is still something that falls under individual consideration for most, if not all, plans. Mass Medicaid did approve 2 of our pt's, but only after the 1st pt went thru the appeal process-that was covered extensively in the press, as you may remember Ann Marie, when it happened about 2 years ago.
