Guest guest
That is " sucky luck " ! My son has both scoliosis and chiari I malformation. My son is only 11 mos old so he cant tell us really if he has a headache or all the other symptoms that go along with chiari. He is seeing a neurosurgeon for decompression surgery soon for the chiari. His was found during an MRI of his head and spine due to his scoli. If you have chiari questions please feel free to email me and i will try to answer them. I researched the heck out of it and can give you some websites and a chiari support group if you are interested. melissa mom to Isaiah 46 degree curve and chiari I malformation > > Hello everyone! I have not posted for awhile because there have been some stinky things going on in our household. Our 4 year old, has been in and out of the hospital this week. He woke up Sunday morning with a headache so bad he could not move. It was so scary. We met with a neurologist on Wednesday and they believe that he has chiari malformation. I know that I have read about this on here and was just wondering if I could get some feedback from all of you. The doctor called it ironic that may have chiari and Max has scoliosis, I call it sucky luck. is due to have an MRI in the next couple of weeks. > I am anxious to hear what you all have to say! > > Cara > Mom to Max(22 months) > Chicago Shriners > In Cast #2 > Curve is almost 0 in cast!!! >
Guest guest
Thanks ! I am praying that the MRI will come up with nothing but from the way the neurologist talked he thought that was the issue. I will keep you updated so we can talk once we get a definite diagnosis. They cant get him in for MRI until August 10th...too long if you ask me! Thanks again! Guest guest
Cara, My son Devyn has Chiari and was decompressed at 18months old. He as well has IS and is now straight. Chiari can be a very scary thing to deal with. I would go to www.asap.org and do all the research you can and find a Neurosurgeon that deals with Chiari specifically. Chiari can be hereditary and can cause many problems if not dealt with. Migraines are the most common side effect but joint pain and numbness can be very common as well. Please email me privatly if you would like more info. Rochelle mom to Devyn 3 and 1/2yrs Infantile Scoliosis, Chiari 1 > > > > > > Hello everyone!
