In regards to POC certification,

If legislation puts it into effect for every 62 days, will that automatically

change Medicare's requirement for reimbursement?

thank you,

Yes, this is true. Was published in the June Proposed Rule

by HCFA.

I was hoping you could clarify something I think I heard at

the APTA National Convention. Is it true that the " Physician

Certification " or Plan of Care for Outpatient Physical

Therapy services is increasing to every 60 days (vs. the

current 30 days)? If so, when will this take effect? I tried to

browse thru the Federal Register but it is very long and

confusing.

I recently stumbled upon your Web site and I think it is

wonderful! Keep up the good work - we really appreciate it!

My question was regarding the legislation that will be implemented as of

January 1999 noted in a previous discussion. It was stated that POCs were not

going to be necessary every 30 days but every 62 days and I was wondering if

that carried over to reimbursement as well. It certainly would make it easier

to submit paperwork half as often if we can be reimbursed for it.

Thank you for the question of clarity Helene.

Sorry Ruth, but I still may be unclear as to your question/comment...Are

you referring to the actual billing of your services? If that is the case,

you would bill however your office/facility wishes, There are some rules in

terms of " timely filing " but feel that is within the 62 days at the very

least and they may even give you more time.....Check with your FI or

carrier.
